Good job hamvatan banoo

I just love this image :-)
by Mehrban on Fri Aug 07, 2009 01:34 PM PDTThe suggested allegory of the maam e vatan and the much desired end to Chagookeshi is also brilliant Ari. An alternate color scheme could be a purple background that happens to be the color of the Derafsh as well. Great job Azadeh.
Thank you everyone

by ex programmer craig on Thu Aug 06, 2009 06:46 PM PDTThat one you found would make a pretty good flag for the Islamic Republic, but I like this one better:

They even have a good price on eBay:

Lovely work Azadeh jan !
by Monda on Thu Aug 06, 2009 06:16 PM PDTThe idea of the protective lioness and the bright warm sun symbols feels right in many levels. It does hold the ancient paradigm but in much balanced and modern manner. And yes women rule just look at who you came from.
Oh one more thing,
by Anonymouse on Thu Aug 06, 2009 05:29 PM PDTOh one more thing, why does the lion/ess has to hold something? Why hold a sword or a pen or anything else? Do lions/esses hold anything in their hands?! If anything they hold pieces of their hunt like a head or an arm or a leg.
Everything is sacred.

by AK69 on Thu Aug 06, 2009 05:24 PM PDT- Yes, hollywood is being truthful about the content of the movie.
"This arsenal of swords is then used as the alphabet spelling out the supposed ideology of the nation. "
- No, it is not.

by Anonymouse on Thu Aug 06, 2009 05:07 PM PDTThe artwork is pleasant. However, the flag reminds of me southeast asian countries like Thailand or Cambodia and they were very violent and didn't even change their flags!
I don't understand the fascination with Iranian flags. Just throw in any chador namaz fabric and call it a flag! I'll follow it as long as we're all happy and healthy.
Everything is sacred.

by I Have a Crush on Alex Trebek on Thu Aug 06, 2009 05:03 PM PDTit is not chaghookeshi action. If only it were.... it's more like chaghookeshi threat. maybe if we had that flag, israel would not mess with us. animal symbolism is universal. who the hell can translate the current flag?

Putting mature pride in the flag
by Ari Siletz on Thu Aug 06, 2009 04:52 PM PDTAll the symbolism aside, the work is just pleasing to look at.
Azadeh Jaan...
by AK69 on Thu Aug 06, 2009 04:35 PM PDT- Lovely artwork; my comments are not directed at your talent at all; thery are more metephoric and a bit esoteric in nature.
Cheers!

why stop at $69K???
by I Have a Crush on Alex Trebek on Thu Aug 06, 2009 04:28 PM PDTI'd wager 1000000 x 69K and I wouldn't make it dollars and cents my powerful Persian lion compatriot. The dollar is worth less than a roll of toilet paper. I suggest ameros or euros or even saudi dinars or whatever they use in china yens??
Believe me, you are much too smart for a dim bulb middle aged lady such as wee me. Congratulations big boy daddy dictionary man :) hat/bra (they match!) off to you.
I wager $69,000 Alex

Matriarchy : a family, group, or state governed by a matriarch
Feminism: organized activity on behalf of women's rights and interests
You want to look at my dictionary Alex?
(see I posed that in a form of a question… LOL)
P.S. That was not the point of my comment; I doubt a dictionary will help you that much with reading comprehension.

Poor AK Sixty Nein
by I Have a Crush on Alex Trebek on Thu Aug 06, 2009 04:14 PM PDTLook man, you obviously don't know the difference between matriarchy and feminism. I hope one day a dictionary lands on your head (not the bible), and you learn this important difference. I think context is also important. This is about a continuing response to the movement within Iran, not about some patriarchal flag that gets guys like Iraniandooodee feeling erect and mighty.
The Sybolism Speaks For Itself
by AK69 on Thu Aug 06, 2009 04:11 PM PDT- That there done (lovely artwork, well done) is a slap in the face of all men. You made the symbols of our great nation and culture into, pussies; literally, figuratively and symbolically. And in so doing, display that the feminine is more apt at leading the next Iran than the masculine. Doesn’t this divisive symbolism fall contrary to the stated purpose of this blog, by way of the new flag?-

Personally Doody, I think you are right
by I Have a Crush on Alex Trebek on Thu Aug 06, 2009 04:04 PM PDTI think that getting my skooling about my heritage from someone with your moniker is both appropriate and necessary during this time of crisis in the major cities in Tehran. Right now we need CYrus more than ever. I wish he would dig himself out of his grave and some flex those muscles and get us out of this Arabo Mongol Romano a Mano mess we are in with his heritage and culture and large historic flags.
Mist Pist Mist !!
by I Have a Crush on Alex Trebek on Thu Aug 06, 2009 04:09 PM PDTFeminism? Who said anything about feminism. Everyone happens to have a mother, sister, girlfriend, grandma, aunty but so what..... I think that men and women are not equal and that to fight for such "equality" is bullsh*t. We have more important issues to sort out anyway, like natural gas and lifting the sanctions on chelo kabob and open source software yadda yadda.
By the way AK sixty six, I think you are obviously a geezer (more than I am). Bras are so yesterday. We have to burn our veils now to prove to the men that we are independent. You guys just have to burn your marriage certificates. Ashes to ashes azizam.

by Iraniandudeee on Thu Aug 06, 2009 03:57 PM PDTIf you knew what heritage was you would understand.
Without the culture, identity, and history of Iran, then there wouldn't be anything special about it, now would there?
Wow!
by AK69 on Thu Aug 06, 2009 03:19 PM PDT- Let me burn my bra right now! We go from islamists to feminists!

by I Have a Crush on Alex Trebek on Thu Aug 06, 2009 02:53 PM PDTSounds so yummy.
P.S. I think the "lion and sun" flag contains some fascinating symbolism relating to the phallus. wouldn't you agree? big giant persian phallus. because really, what is a nation, without big important flags that warn other phallis symbolism holding flags to "stay away! I have a sword with which I will chop off YOUR phallus"? In the name of the shirokhorshid, woohoo. I feel so proud.
UMMMMMMMMMMMMM
by Iraniandudeee on Thu Aug 06, 2009 01:52 PM PDTOKAY? Cute flag, but let's be realistic....... The lion and sun flag is the oldest flag in Iran's history.... It was used even during the Achaemenid times. They found proof of Iranians using the flag even during the mongol-Perso and Roman-Persian wars.
Here's hoping!
by I Have a Crush on Alex Trebek on Thu Aug 06, 2009 01:30 PM PDTI like this a lot. It's time for the boys to step aside. I'm tired of regimes and hopeful regimes who use, abuse, and ignore the women, unless it comes to beauty pageants and cook books. Both are great, but there's more to Iranian women. Thanks Azadeh.
I love it!
by Nazy Kaviani on Thu Aug 06, 2009 01:14 PM PDTAzadeh, this is great! A lioness with a pen, watched by Khorshid Khanoom! I love it. I can't stop smiling at the sentiment!
Thank you so much for accepting the call and for cheering me up! You are really a wonderful artist my friend.
