HAFEZ: BILL CLINTON + "Cooperating":

If you didn't watch Bill Clinton's  key note speech last night (Sept. 5, 2012) at the Democratic Convention - Google or Youtube it and do watch it! It has already been dubbed as one of the best, most riveting,  televised Convention speeches inhistory.

Clinton is out-of-this-world charming - and his call for Unity and Cooperation took me to Hafez and today's Beyt/Couplet. Clinton spoke of how in his days as president "hate" was never on the table when he was dealing with the other side - while the "hate" in the US's political climate today was highly shocking to him. The best part was when he would combine passion with policy - as only he knows how - and talk of not just needing to go beyond hate, but how "cooperation" is what it takes to make America strong again. That "cooperation" isn't just for what the other side might call pansies - but actually makes for better economic results too - and being Clinton, he backed it with facts and numbers.

"Unity and Cooperation": This is a profound concept. One lacking in our community - at home and abroad. We all have to hate someone - and it is toxic and destructive. I always say that in our culture: "You are guilty until proven innocent!" Now, cooperating is an Art - and a Skill. All or Nothing usually leaving us with Nothing. Hafez, who  saw the divine in every day occurrences, as well inspired me and my mind went straight to this Beyt/Couplet - after the speech last night.

حستنت به اتفاق ملاحت جهان گرفت

آری به اتفاق جهان می توان گرفت

Hosnat beh etefagh-eh mellahat jahan gereft

Ari - beh etefagh jahan mitavan gereft

You captivated the orld with the Union of your beauty and grace

Yes - with "Union" the World can be captured apace!

Clinton's grace and charm is truly legendary - and it just shone last night.  Coupled with the beauty of his speech - and only Clinton can distill complicated issues into easy to grasp concepts -  the combination was unstoppable!

Do try and watch this speech if you can - it is real Art ! (and a kind of speech that any public speaker, with any political leaning, from anywhere in the World, can draw and learn from.)

First 15 minutes / CLINTON speech

by Hafez for Beginners on

First 15 minutes: of Clinton's speech, posted right below - are where the inspired thoughts on stopping "hate" and the importance of "cooperation" stemmed from.

I won't leave responses to comments about this man's personal life.

The entire 14:20 minutes are compelling.

An exchange with you, often times is worth a shout…

As I see it, the difference between king with the divine right and president that is by the will of people is :

The difference between a those who kings get to have their fun with (read abuse) and the type of Monica, hence vast difference :)

With the permission of Afsaneh khanom , who may shout at us for bypassing the blogger in our exchange, the kings have a divine right to do that but the presidents are there by the will of the people! :))

My favourite Lewinsky Joke: after the oval office scandal an angry Monica phones Clinton:

Monica: Look what you have done to my life!

Clinton: It's all your fault,! I told you to keep your mouth shut!

Bavafa

Dear anglophile: And regarding Monica….

by Bavafa on

Haven’t we heard the phrase…. “it’s good to be the king” and by that pretty much all Kings have done as Clinton did with Monica?

I thought we liked kings and approve what they do!!!! Sorry anglophile, I couldn’t resist the pun J

this was Hafez's favorite song, I'm told:

"You've got to give a little, take a little,
And let your poor heart break a little.
That's the story of, that's the glory of love.

You've got to laugh a little, cry a little,
Until the clouds roll by a little.
That's the story of, that's the glory of love..."

Speeches for $$$$!

Clinton's public speeches price tag: $100,000.00 minimum

The $ amount paid to his speech writer for the last night speech : Unknown

Bill Clinton's credibility: 0.00

حستنت به اتفاق ملاحت جهان گرفت

آری به اتفاق جهان می توان گرفت

And just imagine how much money he would have had paid for the poem above to read it over & over again for Monica Lewinsky, & perhaps others, when he was acting as an adulterer! And later, however, had raised his finger on TV & lied big time that 'I had never read that poem & never had any sexual relationship with either Monica or Hillary

Exactly! you mentioned speech and I said talk is cheap

by Soosan Khanoom on

He gave a better speech on the situation in Bosnia before which he totally dishonored and did exactly the opposite. It was actually the word "speech "that you used that triggered the entire thing...that's all.

Don't worry Afsaneh jan ... We are good !!

Oon Yaroo

Of Clinton's speech last night!

by Oon Yaroo on

Bill Clinton cares about one thing and one thing only, his penis, with all due respect! He wants Obama to stay in the White House until 2016 so Hilary can run. Once, Hillary gets into the office, then Bill can resume his despicable taking advantage of the innocent female interns. Here is a question for you! Would you let your daughters, sisters, female friends, friends' daughters to intern at the White House knowing that he is in the vicinity? My answer is a HELL NO!

inspiring

Faramarz: Don't you think saying "yobs" is why our community suffers?  So, I went to one NIAC conference, or have been to PAAIA events, or admire IABA. You guys are mean - and I've decided not to attend any of these events - as our community is just weird when it comes to politics. Not leared a darned thing from the Americans who come to the table and talk with each other.

By the way - my "Oh dear" meant - "Oh no... we're getting impolite" - lost in translation, I guess.

Back to CLINTON - This was an inspiring speech - regardless of what party you belong to.

Soosan Khanoum: I mentioned "Clinton's speech" - not 8 years of his Presidency, every single girlfriend, etc. etc. - This Blog was about last night's speech. It would be nice to hear comments about the speech itself. I enjoyed the parts about cooperation a lot, and felt inspired to write this Blog. :- )

Soosan Khanoom

Afsaneh jan you mentioned Clinton and then you want us not to

by Soosan Khanoom on

Talk about him.  Hafez belongs to everyone you have the right to mix him with anyone you want and we also should be able to agree or disagree. If you do not like it then ask the admin to close your blogs to comments right from the  beginning or  only  have it open for the ones who agree.

Soosan Khanoum and Rea: Thank you for sharing your comments - but I don't recommend talking to each other on another person's Blog - at least, with due respect, would ask you not to.

Soosan Khanoom

Dear Rea. That is NOT true. Stay away from

by Soosan Khanoom on

Propaganda.  Bosnians could have saved themselves had it not been for Clonton's back stabbing of them. U.S only got involved after Iran started to help and then rushed to change the situation. Otherwise the killings would have been going on for many more years.  Clinton waited for the complete wiping of the Bosnians and then stepped to fool the world as he was the one who stopped it. He only fools those who buy his propaganda. But do you know what , I do not even want to get into this. I am very much sensitive and I can't even take it after all these years. They killed Bosnians right on front of our eyes and NO ONE said a word... There is a God after all and there is a judgment day. This shall pass too.

Clinton can give beautiful speeches and F*** as many interns he wants but HELL is where he is heading.

Thank you

by Hafez for Beginners on

Thank your for your comments: As you know, these are  personal observations. The intention isn't to convince or convert - and like any creative process, it is left to the individual, the audience,  to react in their own way, or not react at all.

THE MOST BEAUTIFUL aspect of Hafez is his messages resonating with every day life. The next Blog is about A Midsummer Night's Dream - a play some friends and I are studying to go and see. And I'll let you know what about Hafez popped in it for me, personally.

In today's case, the message from Clintons' speech last night - had this Beyt swirling in my mind - regardless of whether Clinton meant it, didn't mean it, what he did in this country, what he did there, who is girlfriend was, how Hilary felt about it etc. etc. I stayed in the moment - with the speech and the message from the speech resonated with this Beyt of Hafez.

... that the "Iranian Green light" policy was implemented, thereby allowing Iranian arms to transit Croatia and go to Bosnia (Croats kept a % of it as a form od payment).

Sadly enough, Bosniaks have forgotten the role the US played in helping them. Have, in the meantime, turned towards SA at the detriment of other 2 peoples sharing the same land.

They are both for 'Safa' and 'cooperation'.

As for me, I like them both.

Afsaneh, thanks for the blog.

In fact, SK, Clinton saved Bosnia

He should be given credit for it. Had it not been for the US intervention Bosnia would've ceased to exist.

Whatever happened to that dress? Sorry but after a speech like this the others are forgotten.

IRANLOVESISRAEL

Commonality between Bill Clinton and Hafez!

by IRANLOVESISRAEL on

Can we agree on one thing here? That the common trade between Slick Willy and Hafez is that they are both pedophiles! According to AO, Hafez did it 700 years ago and Baba did it to an underage WH intern 16 years ago!

Shlomo despises pedophiles!

R U serious Afsaneh jan? falling for the grace and charm

by Soosan Khanoom on

of the Clinton and the beauty of his speech????  Talk is cheap and no one is better in that than the American politicians , Democrat or Republic.   Actually, when it comes to cheap talk and complete acting democrats are number one !!

I can not think of a more hypocrite person ( number two is Obama) than Clinton especially when i think of Bosnia.

"As President, he promised when he was a candidate, he would lift the unfair United Nations arms embargo against Bosnia. But once in office, Bill Clinton completely changed his mind. He broke that pledge, broke that promise, and opposed lifting the arms embargo. Bosnian government controlled defenseless enclaves fell to the Serb Army due to lack of weapons.  On May 30, 1992, the United States imposed an arms embargo on the former Yugoslavia, preventing the Bosnian government to obtain arms and defend themselves against the powerful Yugoslav Army masquerading as the Bosnian Serb Army in the early 1990s. The Congress, however, voted to lift the arms embargo and sent the President a bill. Mr Clinton vetoed that bill... The results of Mr Clinton's policies were devastating for Bosniak people. Just in Sarajevo, capital of Bosnia-Herzegovina, over 10,000 people were killed, including 1,500 children - by the Bosnian Serb Army who kept the defenseless city under the siege... In Zepa, Serb Gen Zdravko Tolimir (aka: Chemical Tolimir) proposed Bosniak Muslim women and children to be gassed with chemical weapons, while in Srebrenica 8,000 to 10,000 Bosniak Muslims were summarily killed, buried in mass graves, and then re-buried in secondary mass graves to hide the crime"

With all due respect dear Afsaneh, quite contrary in what you did here, I can come up with numerous Hafez poems that describe Clinton's hypocrisy but none in his approval.

I hope the above explanation explained my earlier comment.  I just could not say nothing after seeing this moron's face by the Hafez poems.

: )

Funny

by Hafez for Beginners on

Darius + Anglophile: Funny - and if anything, Clinton's flaws in his personal life is a sign that we should not wait for perfection. I actually always thought that if this is all they can get on him - the man must be pretty clean politically.

Given your humor, his line, and I'm paraphrasing: "After seeing Michelle Obama's speech  - I now see why Obama married her!" was funny to me.

Soosan Khanoum:  jan, see? We do the "All or Nothing" in our community! I never said Clinton was Hafez - that would be silly. I'm just matching one Beyt of Hafez - with one concept of Clinton from his phenomenal speech.

Soosan Khanoom

LOL... Clinton and Hafez ?!!

Well..... I am not sure about this one, Afsaneh Jan.
