The song is sad...very sad......it talks about unrequited love....unreciprocated love......at the same time....I also wanted to say that the song talks about sacrificial love and unconditional love......
Everyone wants to be appreciated....it is sad in the song the person has invested so mcuh, but got nothing in return!
Your grenade song reminds me of Enrique Iglesias' song "Hero"....it is less intense than your song, but similar in sentiment:
