Hi R2-D2,

Sufism is cool! I like the teachings and also the world famous sufi poets/poems.

I watched many Shams' videos. One video shows a band member playing a percussion instrument shaped like a bowl floating on water....it is kind of cool!

thanks for sharing!

You're Welcome Yolanda :)

Theosohy is essentially teaching about God and the World based on Mystical insights :)

The Shams Ensemble is also a wonderful group, and you can find lots of their videos on YouTube :)

Shams-e Tabrizi was the man who triggered the fire within the soul of Rumi, which transformed him into the Mowlana that we know today :)

Hi R2-D2,

I visited the you-tube. Wow! This video has over 300,000 hits. I read the description:

*********************************

About Mastan Group,
It's well known that today; our spiritual willing can't find it's desired under an obligatory and imitative religious atmosphere.
Meanwhile the flourished love internal of the man has changed the entire external and old basis. The love from the inside and a sweet song from the outside are two main wings for flying of man sensations.
As it has been seen during the life of the great sophists such as Maulana and others, the man requires to these vital elements in order to continue his life with avidity and talent.
"Ensemble Mastan" is trying to transmit this important message to their auditors as they follow these aims as well in their works.
"Ensemble Mastan" under supervision of "Homay FOUMANY" is trying to refresh the space of the traditional and folkloric Iranian music introducing a different and active interpretation of the Iranian music.
In parallel with what so-called love and theosophy (Eshgh and Erfan), this new movement is looking for his aims employing melodies of Iranian music instruments.
According to this harmony and sympathy, we would like to declare our support for this young group.
check for more Information about this fabulous group.

**********************************

I learned a new word "theosophy"....so this is a sufism inspired band...very interesting! I believe the Farsi description must be very beautiful......I still understand the description, but the English is a little awkward....I like this part the most:

The love from the inside and a sweet song from the outside are two main wings for flying of man sensations.

Shams ensemble must be a sufi band also 'cause I watched their videos with sufi whirling during their performance. Shams was a mentor of Rumi? or something like that...

thanks for sharing!

In the first song, they are essentially introducing the members of the Ensemble :)

If you saved the video, go to the description part on the right hand side of the screen, and read about the group .. It's fascinating :)

Hi! R2-D2,

The singer has an amazing heavenly voice...it is mesmerizing!..I saved the video....for some reason that for the 1st song, the video and audio are not synchronized...it is possible they did it on purpose.....at the end of the 1st song...I could hear echos.....it sounds like the guy was singing from the bottom of the Grand Canyon....it is just beautiful.....the 2nd song is perfectly synchronized with both video and audio....I also like the pretty Persian carpet draping under the santour...

thanks for sharing!
