If you believe our athletes did well in London, you aint seen nothin yet!
Here, one of my heroes, deserving a gold medal in patriotism, courage and humanity.
He has no big muscles. He is barely into his twenties. He wears glasses. But boy, he has the courage of a Lion....
Who is he? Does any of you even know his name? Where is he now? who knows. Maybe Evin, maybe, if lucky out of the country. Maybe.....
Watch....Listen....and learn how a real "pahlavan" talks, acts and lives...

by alimostofi on Thu Aug 09, 2012 07:44 AM PDTThe whole world knows what Iranians and North Koreans have been through.
You are making a political comment. Fair enough. But don't bring sports into it.
Sports is part of world and Iranian culture. Culturally we are all united. In fact the mullahs hate sports, because it is such a powerful cultural force, that takes people's attention away from theocracy.
A sports gathering creates national sentiments that make the mullahs shiver.

misreading the blog!
by Roozbeh_Gilani on Thu Aug 09, 2012 07:31 AM PDTWhen a sports event, and a few gold medals are used as a pathetic attempt to rally support for a bankrupt, fascistic religious ideology responsible for murder and mayahm in our country for the past 34 years, it is absolutely apt to highlight the bravery of those who have ben fighting this cancer of islamist fascism, without fear for their own safety.
No "insults" were meant. But since you mentioned, those "insulted" by the bravery of this student, did not show up on my blog :)
"Personal business must yield to collective interest."
Misleading title
by alimostofi on Wed Aug 08, 2012 11:54 PM PDTPolitics and sports don't mix. Your catchy headline only lures people to think they are going to read a sports report. That is misleading.
People want a relief from politics. Don't insult them. Change the headline to, "A brave Iranian Student defines what Khaen means outside in Iran and gets arrested".

by Roozbeh_Gilani on Wed Aug 08, 2012 04:55 PM PDTFor providing Abbas's name.
he talks so much sense. he speaks up against the regime and war at the same time. People like Abbas, Young, bright, brave clear in their mind, are the hopes of our country. May he and his comrades remain safe, yet active...
I agree with you Bavafa.

And he is certainly of different type of gold medalist, the winner of the heart of soul of Iranians who cherish freedom and those who stand for freedom, justice and independence for Iran and Iranians.

What a Courageous Soul ...
by Mona 19 on Wed Aug 08, 2012 01:54 PM PDTThe description under the video says his name is Mr. Abbas HakimZadeh ... I found another video of him in youtube. He's mentioned in this article by Sarah Shourd in Huffingtonpost. I hope wherever he's living, he's happy & safe.
And I 2nd what you said:"deserving a gold medal in patriotism, courage and humanity".
Most Regards, Mona
