Why I do it. In his own recently posted words. Please read to the end...

KS...Killer Shark/KiaroStami....King Solomon/Kaposi's Sarcoma..

"I am here, because I am you, your neighbor, your shame, your fear, your hate, your past, your present, your future, I am your mirror, I am the friend you once had, I am the person you betrayed, I am the person you stoned to death, I am the first stone cast, I am the child that hung until the red left his lips, I am the mother who had to claim the body of her child, I am the father that could never wash his son’s body, I am the cold winds that ran up your back when you sense injustice, I am the emotion that makes you stare with fright and intrigue at a person as his life leaves his body, I am everything you do not want to be, I am a Muslim, a Jew, a Mazdaki, a Christian, a Sufi, a Bahai, I am hate, I am love, I am anger, I am sorrow, I am hope, I am your denial, I am your efforts to distance yourself from Islam, I am your excuses, I am your broken grave stones, I am your unmarked graves, I am tears, I am the desire to send steel rain to the IRI, I am your vengeance, I am your desire for a pound of flesh, I am your desire to distinguish yourself from Arabs, I am your contradictions, I am unfair, I am your humanity on a cusp, I am your irrational desires, I am your divorces, I am your failed efforts at love abroad, I am your failed attempted to fit-in, I am your changed names so it can be pronounced, I am your efforts to include your non-Iranians friends in the conversation, I am thousands of souls that never came back from the War – I am you! "

I am your laughter as the warm waters of the Caspian crashes against your feet leaving a million water nymphs squirming under and over your feet, I am your request and desire to stop and get warm, fresh kolocheh as you arrive in Mazandaran, I am the pain that brings a smile to your face as you walk over sharp seashells trying to reach the water, I am the purple skies over Perspolis, I am the wait for the order of jegar with salt bought at the street vendor [jegaree], I am the pieces of seeds[tokhmeh] spat from the upper balcony over the heads of the audience sitting in looj, I am the barley soup with a piece of bread being eaten on a cool winter day after the movies at Cinema Takhteh Jamsheed, I am the laughter of kids at a school playground at zangeh tafreh, I am the inner urge to “gher” when you hear bab-karam, I am the anticipation for porshikee, I am that bastanee ghefee, I am that fires coming from the tumble weed at Chahar shanbe souree, I am the crisp new bills you got for nourouz, I am the nouneh khameayee sold near Majlis, I am your how you feel when you mother asks what you want her to make you for dinner, I am the deep snow in Hamedan, the dates on the ground on the streets of Bam, I am the round faloudeh Kerman, I am the best ash you had in Tabriz, I am the summers in Astara, I am the mountains of Alborz and Zagroos, I am the hot, hot summer muggy nights of Abadan, I am the korsee at your grandma’s house in the dead of winter, I am the first gojeh of the season, I am the night skies over the Kavir, I am you!

Stop Censoring Us

This Rosie is a troublemaker! Now we cannot even have our own forum. Foreigners learn our language, come here, divide us, civilize us, delete us! When are we going to learn?

I know who I am and what I believe in.

I can wake up every morning and look at the reflection of myself in the mirror and I like the person that I see.

I like who I have become.:o) It is the best gift that a person can give themselves.

For you see, I am not defined by others, rather I define who I am.

Hey something great about this site. If you say anything you like about Islam and curse as much as you want against Iran it's OK, but as soon as you say anything bad about Jews or Israel, your message gets deleted.
Just for your info to show what *** I am.

in Spanish "Paz y amistad" which is my native language.

  1. I am not against any religion/nonreligion or ethnic group. I do my best to try to be an objective thinker.
  2. I believe that it is important to see everyone's view point in an objective manner.
  3. I believe that there has to be room for all religious/nonreligious and political ideologies in the world.
  4. The problem arises when certain people try to force their beliefs whether political or religious/nonreligious unto others. Also, when people over generalize things on certain ethnic or religious/nonreligious groups.
  5. I believe that religion/nonreligion is a personal choice and a private one. I was raised in the US so, I do believe in a separation of Church and State.
  6. I don't want the bloodshed of any ethnic group. I think enough blood has been shed in the world already.

It always amazes me. We are suppose to be one of the most advanced generations in technology and knowledge and yet we lack the ability to resolve conflict with objective discussions.

Instead we go to war, in which so many people lose their lives or   suffer great personal loss and so much devastation is caused to the environment.

paz y amistad

David, it's a BIG problem... / KS

by Rosie T. on

because this site gets almost a half million hits from individual computers per MONTH and I tested recently by googling Shapour Bakhtiar. Darius Kadivar's article on him was the third hit after wikipedia and shapourbakhtiar.org. It means if I live in Czech Republic and am NON-Iranian and I want to know about Bakhtiar I google and get an overview from wiki, then I check out his devotees' site but assume it's biased. Then I do further research and this site is my FIRST hit.

I also was looking at some issues from a couple of years ago the other day and I think the quality of submissions has gone down because som of of the best writers have defected in horror at the chaos of the threads. It's a damn shame. I think more people should express their views on it to jj, as Souri did in a recent blog called A New Face. JJ answered her about it and said he agreed with her writers should have more control of the blogs but he's not sure the tech guy can do it easily. Then he didn't feature it because he assumed his reply was sufficient, then others came and agreed but it was a small discussion because the blog was unfeatured. Damn shame.

KS I am already sharing the profits with you because a few people "got it." JR must have been bleary-eyed from sleep if he thinks that. I can't change the blog to make it clearer because that will automatically unfeature it. I am just going to have to let the moment be what it is and there is always tomorrow. Keep writing poetry, it's so beautiful.

"amen" ! :D

but with this system of iranian.com a limited few with multiple ID's are playing others and even creating their own battles with their own self created ID's  just to get a kick of others reactions or to create distractions . A mind game by few. A flaw of this site that the owner has failed to see.

The conversations are getting less and less intelligent and more of a game... one that is gradually turning this site to a wasteful medium ... a wish that will play in to that hands of IR

and management does not see its historical responsibility and its place in this and what iranian.com can be capable of instead...

sigh!

and I am Jewish so she can't be anti-Semitic. Anyway she doesn't have a bone of hate in her body. That's why I wanted to be friends with her off-line. She keeps me on the right path.

Anti-Zionist (IF she is that, I don't really know) is not anti-Jewish anyway, Zion. I'm only going to say it once for the general readership. I don't intend to debate you on it because we've tried it several times before and it went nowhere. So I'm not going to waste my time on it. I would much rather dialogue with you about pagan Greek fertility rites and their influence in Mazdaism and Christianity.

by Zion_ (not verified) on

As you all have seen Nadias has been spreading anti Israeli, which means anti Semite message of Solh va Doosti, which after translating it I figured it means Peace and Friendship. As you can see that would threaten the Statehood of Israel and therefore is an anti Semite message. Nadias, Divert your hate towards Islam just like KS and save yourself from being accused. Since Islam is the cause of all the wars and distruction, coups and uncertainty in the world. Islam is the Imperialists that are sucking the wealth of the world dry. Also Rosie now sees much more in to him and obviously me, and becoming understanding, as I think you have, towards his views. Please change your signature to something that ks and me can relate to, something hateful.May all of you see the beauty of hate and passion that is in every one of us in Israel. KS lives is us, KS is poetry, KS is Israel. Thank you.

Exactly, David...be honest WITHOUT abusing...

by Rosie T. on

previously KS's language was just a TAD below the Colonel's in abuse and that is why people have so much problem with him, as you did with Colonel's comments. And so I tried to highlight his creative side rather than destructive and hoped that would re-shape the dialog and so far so good, all KS's dialog that I've seen lately has been very civilized...now it's up to the others to stop demonizing him....

I am sure by now you know enough about me that I promote tolerance and respect of one another but having said that

Just be honest with yourself and one another without abusing each other or asking others to censor themselves or censoring yourself

As for your part of comments to me about a specfic ID here, that remains to be your battle and I leave that to you...  :-)

Regarding Kafka,

by Rosie T. on

I already told Kafka I wasn't going to read him or reply to him after he accused me of being a covert Muslim hater without any substantiation. But since he's posting this long missionary post on my blog I guess I have an obligation to respond, for the readers. So I'll do so.

I never had an angry exchange with "Nezanin" nzanincanadai. I simply on two occasioned tried to DISCUSS with her why she made such taunting comments to me. I was perfectly civilized. One record of ithe exchanges doesn't exist because she always deletes her blogs and the other does. In the latter Kafka ijumped in to taunt me and ALL I said to him was that I didn't know nezanin and nzanincanadai were the same person. That was IT.

More recently when Kafka accused with with his typical "psychological" approach of covert Islam-hating, I did something I've NEVER EVER done before--I used ONE foul wordm but I asterisked it and before I used it I had a one-paragraph preamble explaining WHY I was about to use it. It was HARDLY a typical outburst of profanity.

As for the deletion of our last discussion when it got unpleasant, it
was on a spiritual poetry blog so I had the EXCHANGE deleted because it
went so clearly against the blog author's intent. But before I did I
copied his post and offered to send it to him if he wanted to use it
ELSEWHERE and signed myself "peace."

If Kafka wants to defame me, that's fine but since he's citing specific incidents of my discourse where a record exists, ihe must provide LINKS to the instances instead of his own hearsay. But it's incumbent on him, not me, since I didn't start this and don't want to continue it. So interested readers should ask him for the relevant links. I'm osrry but I'm just not wasting my time on it. I only wrote as much as I did out of respect to the readers of this blog..

So much for the factual demonstrable allegations. The rest is his opinion of me and people are free to draw their own conclusions..I find anyone who is familiar with my discourse to accuse me of secretly admiring KS's Islam-bashing to be not worth my spending any more time rebutting.

Rosie T.

To JR, David ET

by Rosie T. on

Although I disagree with it in many ways, there has never been for me a problem with KS's arguing his thesis that from the Prophet's day on and in the Quran, Islam is a negative force. It is pretty similar to JR's thesis. My disagreement stems from my belief that all scriptures are open-ended, internally contradictory and don't have to be interpreted literally, and depending on the context in history and culture, people and groups use them as they plrease. Hence the Abassid scholars, the Persian Sufi mystics, etc., all Islams. Since religion has increased rather than decreased contrary to the expectations of 20th century secularists, and people seem to have a need to cling to their identity as Muslims, it's better to go very gently in critiquing Islam, and to stress its positive historical incarnations, to target Islamicism rather than Islam in the vehement discourse, and also to posit attractive positive alternatives if one is so disposed--rather than a combative head-on frontal attack on Islam per se to Muslims, Especially in Sharia countries, which are essentially totalitarian, this polarizes people into a very ugly politics out of f ear that their "identy" as a Muslim is being threatened. Nevertheless, serious critiques of Islam's (very) negative scriptural aspects of course are part of the of legitimate discussion. So what I find inherently objectionable about KS's discourse on Islam is not his thesis but his language...how he would address any Muslim who disagreed with him no matter how nice as you Mohammad, Ali, Houssein, talk about them bending over for...That has been a real problem. But not enough to make him the RESIDENT DEMON of the website because this discourse has always occured in tandem with poetic insights and because plenty of other posters use equally offensive language whenever for whatever. So why should he be demonized? So while I do understand the anger against him--although ihis language hs recently improved--the demonization remainsm and that's why I posted this blog, to show the other side of him clearly. the poetic side. And like I said below, some people "got it", and I guess that's all I can ask for.

We are half angel half animal and no one should demonize anyone, especially not HERE with so much offensive discourse going on from so many parties...demonizing Kouroush is AS fanatical an ideology as his own EXCESSIVE, pathological Islam-bashing that really was MUSLIM-bashing rather than Islam-bashing. Come to think of it, in a nutshell, THAT has always been the real problem.

Here, we have a fellow who most likely is not Iranian and has insulted every thing and every one. You go flaunting him as best thing since slice bread. I guess, there is a niche market for Poo eaters.

Do you ever wonder, what is the obsession with the word “shit” in every other sentence?

Is It //www.google.com/custom?hl=en&client=pub-8617...

Jahanshah Rashidian

Rosie / KS

by Jahanshah Rashidian on

Rosie’s description is an expressive prose literally very pretty. It is full of reminiscences remembering us every corner of Iran.

KS's critics on Islam are normal and necessary, what in his case seems odd and unnecessary is his ties or sympathy for other religions, which cannot present counter-arguments to Islam.

Iranians were not enough aware of a religious dictatorship. A great number of enthusiastic Iranians could not predict that an Islamic regime would not assume freedom and justice; it turned short after the revolution into an illusionary vision. Islam, as the ideology of the new regime, fell under a rational scrutiny. Some were disappointed with Islam but not with religion. Since religious belief remaines a psychological need for them, some souls like KS use it as a balance to replace Islam with another religion.

Azarin Sadegh

to Kouroush: Please don't use "Kafka"!

by Azarin Sadegh on

Dear Kouroush,

Would you please choose another nickname -- other than Kafka --for the symbol of your bad side/ demon? Please...His demons and yours have nothing in common!

Thanks,

Azarin

Kafka is my favorite writer and he is defintely one of the most important writers of all times.

Voila my favorite short story by Frantz Kafka:

*********** THe Vulture *********************

A vulture was hacking at my feet. It had already torn my boots and stockings to shreds, now it was hacking at the feet themselves. Again and again it struck at them, then circled several times restlessly round me, then returned to continue its work. A gentleman passed by, looked on for a while, then asked me why I suffered the vulture. "I'm helpless," I said. "When it came and began to attack me, I of course tried to drive it away, even to strangle it, but these animals are very strong, it was about to spring at my face, but I preferred to sacrifice my feet. Now they are almost torn to bits." "Fancy letting yourself be tortured like this!" said the gentleman. "One shot and that's the end of the vulture." "Really ?" I said. "And would you do that?" "With pleasure," said the gentleman, "I've only got to go home and get my gun. Could you wait another half hour?" "I'm not sure about that," said I, and stood for a moment rigid with pain. Then I said: "Do try it in any case, please." "Very well," said the gentleman, "I'll be as quick as I can." During this conversation the vulture had been calmly listening, letting its eye rove between me and the gentleman. Now I realized that it had understood everything; it took wing, leaned far back to gain impetus, and then, like a javelin thrower, thrust its beak through my mouth, deep into me. Falling back, I was relieved to feel him drowning irretrievably in my blood, which was filling every depth, flooding every shore.
