A Bewildered Conscience Blindly Groping for Clarity : Dissent is the Only Response to Manufactured Realities
The footage shows Irish Noble Peace Prize recipient, Mairead Maguire getting shot at with rubber-coated-metal bullets by the Israeli army in an unprovoked attack. The Israeli soldiers opened fire on peaceful demonstrators in the West Bank village of Bilin on April 20, 2007, following an international conference on popular resistance (April 18-20, 2007). Maguire was wounded by a rubber-coated-metal bullet in the leg. After receiving first aid, Maguire speaks about the plight of the Palestinian people and the possible routes for remedying the woeful and inhumane condition under which they are forced to live as a direct result of an illegal and brutal military occupation.

Sigh... What has become of the world? People have no sense of shame any more... It's all the result of Zionist insidious infiltration I tell you. Next thing you know, you even get to hear these people claim such bloodsucking lizardoids are human too...As if!

Spinning The Words, As Usual
by Zion on Mon Jun 16, 2008 09:09 PM PDTI do not mean that she personally has to travel to all these places. I am talking about her type, such lovely people. Do you see them flooding in Iran, in Kurdistan, in Baluchistan, in Khuzistan, in Tehran and elsewhere? Of course not. This is all ideologically motivated. She utters factual nonsense about the word having forgotten the palis... seriously?! You open the tely every night and there is no mention of the palis? The UN is not all about the palis? All the aid I linked to does not go to the palis?
How much international help goes to the poverty stricken in Iran? How come none of these ideological useful idiots have never anything to say about such cases? Why is it ALWAYS about this legendary palis?
Sadegh, I mentioned those states because they are real cases of inhumanity and oppression. Israel is the exact opposite.
Israel is not comparable to European democracies. Not at all. No European state is s humane and as tolerant and as ready to sacrifice as Israel is, not even a fraction of a percentage of Israel. Wait a bit longer for the muslim problem in Europe to reach its reaping period, and see how your European democracies, and their enlightened population, will deal with them. A few more of the likes of Madrid and London bombings and "youth" riots in France and Holland, and you'll see racism against Muslims in a scale you cant even think about. Two successful attacks on American soil in 9/11 and look at the reaction, both externally, the regime of two nation states were toppled in war, and internally with the restrictions on lax civil status. Israel has been dealing with such stuff for decades, yet Israeli arabs remain her citizens with equal rights and positions in the parliament and supreme court, yet her news papers are the freest in the world, yet her population crave for peace and are ready for highest forms of sacrifice towards their potential genocidal enemies for peace. Israel is by far not comparable with any European or even American democracy in this regard. By far unique in the world, yet idiots like this lady have made a career by Israel bashing. Easiest way to get a shallow image of a hero. This has become our age, the real pioneers of freedom and humanity are vilified, while the most shallow buffoons are hailed as heroes.
The world can't remain this crazy for ever, but I am afraid the price we all have to pay for this lunacy will be very high indeed.
Thank goodness that she did not die

Zion I take comfort in the
by sadegh on Mon Jun 16, 2008 04:30 PM PDTZion I take comfort in the knowledge that you think Israel in the same category as North Korea, Somalia and Sudan...There is certainly a grain of truth there. Also as someone else has already pointed out the US gives unconditional support in the form of money and armaments to a nation which disingenuously tries to present itself as a European style democracy, when it is in fact, as the great Israeli scholar Israel Shahak pointed out many years ago, a racial-supremacist state in which the non-Jew has no residency rights, no employment or property rights, and no right to equality before the law. And of course, don't forget those only Jewish roads along which messianic fundamentalists travel to beat and harass helpless Arabs. The reason why the Israel-Palestine conflict is a big deal apart from the already enumerated reasons is that it is a brutal military occupation of over 40 years fully funded by the West and ensures the preponderance of an apatheid regime (first and foremost the US government). If you can't spot the difference it's only because you're a fundamentalist who seeks spiritual consolation in bigotry. And for the record I condemn unequivocally the actions of the fundamentalist morons who man the Sudanese government, but then again as the person below pointed out, US taxpayers aren’t paying for that horrific escapade in ethnic cleansing.

Poor Zionazis
by XerXes (not verified) on Mon Jun 16, 2008 04:14 PM PDTAlways under attack by peace lovers and human rights watch dogs. How unfair. How can they defend themselves otherwise?
How sad that many of you buy in to this propaganda that Israel actually shoots, tortures and treats Arabs unequally. How could you even think that way about Israel. Zionazis are not as bad as some of these peace activists try to brain wash you to think!

and about your question:
I wonder why such lovely people never go where the real victims
are. Why isn't she in Iran supporting the women and the students? Why
isn't she asking for help to the Iranian poor who live under the
poverty line? Why isn't she in Darfur? In Somalia? In North Korea?
Maybe because she won't be allowed to open her mouth there?...
You named a lot of places except the one they chose to show up at: Palestine! this lady is one person, how many places does she need to go to prove
to you that she is only defending the victims? does she have to get
shot in Iran too before you believe what the Israeli soldiers did to
her?
you're wondering if she didn't go anywhere else because she would not have been allowed to open her mouth... as opposed to being shot at in Palestine? I guess she chose the easy way out then ;-)
just like Rachel Corrie did years ago... slackers I'd tell ya'!

Typical
by Zion on Mon Jun 16, 2008 03:15 PM PDTIt is a typical propaganda stunt leftist activists and useful idiots. the video conveniently begins after the Israeli forces retaliate, and we are left in the dark as to what has been done precisely to provoke the retaliation and to film it and use it. The nonsense usual propaganda falsehoods and slogans she utters afterwards is also typical and destroys any credibility she might have had otherwise. No one gives help to the palestinians?! What crap! The US, the EU spend millions every year in direct helps to Palestinians. What is she whining about, the fact that the US has refused to give such lumps to a terrorist group Hamas and is instead spending a portion of it in direct humanitarian aid to the Palestinians?
//www.cnn.com/2006/US/04/07/us.palestinians/i...
//www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/artic...
Nobel Laureate or not, an idiot is an idiot. Arafat and Carter were also Nobel Laureates. So was the idiot last year, or maybe the year before, who openly claimed the US has created AIDS to kill Africans.
I wonder why such lovely people never go where the real victims are. Why isn't she in Iran supporting the women and the students? Why isn't she asking for help to the Iranian poor who live under the poverty line? Why isn't she in Darfur? In Somalia? In North Korea? Maybe because she won't be allowed to open her mouth there? Maybe because what she might get raped and killed like the Canadian Iranian photographer? Or maybe because that won't paint the US ugly enough and therefore won't serve her ideological purposes, which is what all of this is really about?
It is also nice to see all the usual gang forgetting that most of their info comes from Israeli groups like B'Tzelem who monitor the military openly and with full immunity, as should be the case in any real democracy? Very convenient to forget such details, isn't it?

by Anti-Racist (not verified) on Mon Jun 16, 2008 12:56 PM PDTWhen you have institutionalized racism this is the inevitable result. The Israelis barbarity needs to be shown for what it is in the clear light of day. Apologist put it brilliantly - they have the nukes and the cutting edge weaponry supplied by the US but then it's the 'rock-throwing savages' that are a danger to world peace. Just the biggest load of rubbish. Israelis that have never experienced oppression are still bring up the Holocaust to rationalze their crimes against HUMANITY. Darfur should be condemned too, but then again THE SUDANESE GOVERNMENT DOESN'T USE MY TAKE DOLLARS TO KILL WOMEN AND CHILDREN! THE US DOES AND AS A US CITIZEN I HAVE SICK OF SUPPORTING AN APARTHEID RACIST AND DRACONIAN REGIME!

'Jewish settler attack' on film
by Baby J (not verified) on Mon Jun 16, 2008 10:09 AM PDTFootage from a video camera handed out by an Israeli human rights group appears to show Jewish settlers beating up Palestinians in the West Bank.
An elderly shepherd, his wife and a nephew said they were attacked by four masked men for allowing their animals to graze near the settlement of Susia.
The rights group, B'Tselem, said the cameras were provided to enable Palestinians to get proof of attacks.
A spokesman for the Israeli police said that an investigation was under way.
So far, no-one has been arrested.
