Cultural Schizophrenia: Islamic Societies Confronting the West

//www.goodreads.com/book/show/170994.Cultural...

Based on examples
ranging from Iran to Morocco, the author portrays a society he defines
as peripheral - bound by a slavish adherence to its own glorified
history, its "Tradition" - yet facing an external reality that derives
from the West. The meeting of these two incompatible worlds leads to a
profound distortion not only in how the Muslim world sees the West but,
more importantly, in how it sees itself.

Truth is the Night of Power,

hidden amid the other nights

so the soul may try each one.

Not all nights are the Night of Power,

yet all nights aren’t empty of it either.

23rd of Ramadan

by Tabarzin on

Is Laylat'ul-Qadr (the Night of Power). There is a discussion by Mohsen Fayz Kashani about this in the Tafsir-i-Safi and an earlier one by Rajab Bursi saying the same thing. One of the reasonings for the 23rd of Ramadan being the Night of Power is the arrangement of the Du'a Sahar into 23 verses as this prayer is meant for Ramadan and each of its verses instances the members of the Ahl-i-Bayt from Muhammad to the 12th Imam together with God, the 4 Archangels of the Throne and the 4 companions of 'Ali: Ammar, Miqdad, Abu Zarr and Malik. 23 is also the abjad numerical value of wahdahu, and upon this basis the 23rd is claimed by some to be the precise locus of the Night of Power during the holy month. The Surah itself is claimed by some to refer to Hazrate Fatima Zahra' (as).
