The 33rd GCC summit has concluded in Manama, Bahrain. In their final communiqué, aside the “Sakhir Declaration” which calls for the implementation of the previous GCC integration resolution(s), in essence creation of a regional EU, it also openly confronts the warmongering by the Messianic Islamist Republic ruling over Iran.
So far so good, bon chance on both issues, however, where the “Arab Gulf” err, and it is a biggie, it is where they state:
“continued occupation of the three Emirati islands.”
This is unfortunate on two counts.
1-It defies historical facts dating back to many millennia, where Iran as a country not only had sovereignty over the Persian Gulf Islands in question, Abu Musa, Greater Tunb and Lesser Tunb; it had some of the current newly created GCC states as its territory and protectorates.
2- Taking this position by GCC plays right into the hands of the Messianic Islamists who are wishing for a nationalistic issue to come rescue them from the deep trouble they are in with the Iranian people. GCC should deny the Messianic Islamists’ wish.
BTW, it is Persian Gulf, repeating the asinine “Arabian Gulf” will not make many thousands of years of fact on the ground go away.
