Thoughts on the new Iranian.com

OK, after using the new Iranian.com for a while I want to share my thoughts on what is good and what is not.

Good things:

* The new interface feels much faster.

* The new interface is snappier I mean When you login.

* It is possible to follow and block other users.

Bad things:

* A lot of dead space on the page

* First page is really a big mess, everything is mixed. I think the old Iranian.com was much better sorted, on top you had videos on the main panel you had articles and then you could click to see blogs and other stuff.

* No quality control, When clicking on a link that is high up on the page it just does not have any body but just a link in it.

* login session is timed out? Why? I mean why the cookie has a time out? I do not want to login everytime.

* In Ipad it is not possible to give comments to an article.

* The login and comment field are beneath all other comments so you have to scroll down all the way to write.

Wishlist:

* Possibility to send private messages

* Quality control of both the text and comments.

@SaidAmin These improvements I think are essential
1. Change the Persian font to something readable, look at BBC for example. Or maybe there are nicer and more modern fonts. A good font would give the site a type of identity. Check for Reza Abedian and his fonts.
2. Comment field on top of all comments instead of you have to go down all the comments to fill it.
3. Virtual keyboard like in radiofarda.com would allow you to type in Persian although you don't have the right keyboard.
4. No session timeout. (can you explain why it is needed)?

Thanks. Improving Farsi version (font/formatting etc.) is next on the list. Do you have a link for where Reza's fonts can be found?

Native logins have recently been expanded to 12 hours. If you are finding that you are getting logged out earlier than that, please let me know. We do not have unlimited sessions as they would adversely affect performance of the site - will slowly keep expanding the session times.

Ohh, I do not know where you can get his font, but look him up on Google you will find his work and it is great.

One more thing on iPad two bugs
1. Session is not saved at all.
2. It is not possible to reply to a comment.

It is maybe good if you open a bug tracking site so people could put in bugs there.

Well I both like and dislike the TOOP feature. I think with a mature and active users it would be a good feature. But with users that do tend to be childish at best and also me who forgets most of the time to toop the article that I like then Toop loses its meaning. But I think we should give it a little time for people to start using it. It always take time before get used to a feature.

My concern is the Toop thingy ....It has become so predictable.

Since the majority of readers are not among the TOOP players, I think TOOP should not be an option on anything other than Art and Entertainment.
Religion & Politics are filled with love or hate messages that come with the Territory. As the result "Toop" can be hijacked very easily and can be thrown into the Readers face 24/7 with only certain agenda in mind.

A good example would be the two contents I posted on the topic of NIAC and I only did that because i saw constant NIAC and Trita bashing by the usual suspects. I knew it from the start that mine won't get much Toops if not any. We all know, here on this site, the Toop Players are more into bashing NIAC than anything else. No Surprise ! No surprise at all ! Please note that I said the " Toop Players " not the actual Readers.

The majority of the readers are not even a member to Toop anything. They usually stop by to read and unfortunately this Toop business, with all its dedicated Players, is actually taking the readers options away.

Just My 2 cents
