Let’s begin with the story of Lot, Abraham's nephew, Book of Genesis, chapters 11–14 and 19, which is as old as Mount Kilimanjaro vs. the fresh LGBT, an acronym: "And there came two angels to Sodom…; and Lot seeing them rose up to meet them; bowed; And he said, '…, my lords, turn in, …, into your servant’s house, and tarry all night, and wash your feet, … rise up early, and go on your ways.' And they said, 'Nay; but we will abide in the street all night.' …he pressed upon them greatly; …they turned in…; …they did eat. But before they lay down, the men of the city, even the men of Sodom, compassed the house round, both old and young, all the people from every quarter, (wow!): And they called unto Lot, and said unto him, 'Where are the men which came in to thee this night? bring them out unto us, …' And said, 'I pray you, brethren, do not so wickedly. Behold now, I have two daughters which have not known man; let me, I pray you, bring them out unto you, and do ye to them as is good in your eyes(!): only unto these men do nothing;' And they said, 'Stand back' . . . And they pressed sore upon the man, even Lot, and came near to break the door. The men [the angels] put forth their hand, and pulled Lot into the house to them, and shut to the door. They smote the men that were at the door of the house with blindness… so that they wearied themselves to find the door. And the men [i.e., the two angels] said unto Lot … Then the LORD rained upon Sodom and upon Gomorrah brimstone and fire from the LORD out of heaven; And he overthrew those cities, and all the plain, and all the inhabitants of the cities, and that which grew upon the ground…”
On 1/17/2013, French people, on behalf of God Almighty, the protector of Abraham's nephew, who has sacked all his angels due to double-digit unemployment, took to the streets of Paris to protest gay marriage. Naturally, there was no guarantee that all the participants were absolutely heterosexual. At the French windows, some people silently displayed their bewilderments at the eco-politically motivated scenes, gay marriage protest and Mali rapid deployment. The windows people clasped one another’s hands as they used to do so when they were at high school, the same experience shared by many of us when friends surpassed parents.
Marriage, a religious rite, is already threatened with high divorce rates (between 40% and 50%). Nine US states have already legalized gay marriage as a gesture of gratitude to gay voters. Why all the fuss about the terminology of ‘gay marriage’? If, in western societies, it is related to visitation, taxation, inheritance rights, access to family health coverage, and protection in the event of the relationship ending, let appropriate laws be passed to quietly replace ‘partnership’ for ‘marriage’. Otherwise, western LGBT people are politely asked to perform the act privately like millions of the world-wide LGBT of non-western nations, and wait for the completions of the spaceships being built for members of the invisible club before their nuking of the world.
