This is not the first time a US official has accused Islamists in Tehran of trying to destabilize the Middle East region. And the US Secretary of Defense is not alone in his assessment of the situation in the the Middle East. However, the Islamists ruling Iran have not limited their activities to threatening peace and security of the region alone.

From the first day of its establishment, the regime in Tehran declared war on Iran's neighboring countries, the Middle East as a whole and the international community through their warmongering slogans and activities such as, exporting their brand of revolution, liberating Jerusalem, the take over of the US embassy in Tehran which amounts to an act of war, calling for the annihilation of a sovereign state, i.e. Israel, sponsoring terrorism and perpetrating direct terrorist acts the world over.

Unfortunately, for decades the international community seemed to care less about IR's acts of terror against Iran's citizens. For decades, the international community did very little to address IR's inhuman and murderous policies vis-a-vis Iranians.

This is usual hypocrisy from US government. Hypocrisy to a normal person using normal language. But in his own way, Paneta is being honest! US government considers a country under its full control stable. So in 1973, US had to "destabilize" the democratically elected government of Allende in Chile, in order to "stabilize" Chile under the brutal, torturous regime of Pinochet. And US government establishment pretty much phrased it exactly as such. Paneta has the audacity to accuse others of bringing instability to Middle East. As if Iraq and Afghanistan are stable under US regime of "kill them all and let god sort them out." As if Bahrain and Yemen are stable. Syria and Libya are stable. By the twisted mentality of a Western colonialist this sort of logic makes sense. And BBC, the ancient old mouthpiece of colonialism, reports the Paneta's ridiculous charge without a single criticism.

What am I going to do? I will point out the facts. All that we need to change both Iran and US is to speak the truth. You can check out all the facts for yourself.

US shot down an Iranian passenger airliner and then gave the guy who did it a medal. Now, Panetta complains about the possibility of Iranian missiles shooting down a non-military plane!

US is running daily UAV strikes in Yemen in support of a dictatorship and Panetta yaps about Iran interfering in Yemen. All those UAE governments that US is going join in a military exercize all have worse human rights records than Iran. Bahrain hosts the largest US base in the region and put doctors in jail for trying to help shot prodemocracy demonstrators. And lets not forget a bit of history for the nationalist Iranians here. Bahrain used to be part of Iran, and the British engaged in a "Deiranization" policy to change its demographics.

What will I do? I'll do what you should do. Read history and talk about it.

faraway,

Address the substance of what I'm saying, rather than accusing me of this, that, and the other! Even if I'm repeating someone else's talking points as you say, what matters is if my points are correct. Even a cursory review of history shows that I'm writing about historical facts.

To answer your question, yes Islamic terrorism exists, but it pales in its viscousness and barbarity to Western terrorism. By any sane definition of terrorism the greatest terrorist entity in the world today is the United States government along with its allies. The greatest terrorist entity in modern times is the government of UK. UK has done everything from extermination, rape, murder, drug pushing, etc. And Brits take pride in their crimes against humanity, because they can put a crown on an old rags head and have some good old British pageantry. For the past half millenium, no one has unleashed terror on the planet like the so-called Western "civilization". History of Western terrorism speaks for itself.

As for Islamic terrorism, the answer is simple. Western nations must stop instigating it and supporting it. Look at the recent terrorism bred from the Arabian peninsula and compare it to terrorism alleged to come from Iran. The Wahhabi jihadists are the worst and they come right out of the Arabian peninsula. What is the response from the West? Both Americans and Europeans fully support the Arab dictatorships, while passing crippling sanctions that make life unbearable for Iranian citizens. And who funded and trained Al Qaeda? US government with Saudi support! I won't go further into it, but to scream about Islamic terrorism without addressing the wider Western terrorism is nonsense. When someone from a country like Iran does it, it's a sign of colonized mentality!

Finally, what about Judeo-christian terrorism? Does that exist? In his first 24 hours of taking office, Obama had to go to over a dozen prayer breakfasts and dinners, almost all Christian or Jewish. Right wing Christian and Zionist organizations are some of the most influential forces in American and European politics. They were fully active in pushing for invasion of Iraq that created more terrorism, along with over a million dead civilians. If we were to compare religious influence on military power that causes civilian death, then Judeo-christian terrorism dwarfs Islamic terrorism. And to be clear, in my opinion all terrorism is despicable, must be condemned and must be ended.
