Talking about Shemraan ... unfortunately all those beautiful old houses and gardens are now a history. Most are replaced with tall apartments and parking lots with no trees .. Cats are still there but the fur is covered with smog dust rather than the tree's pollen !

The Shemiran I saw last year during my visit , was not the one I left twenty something years ago, ... almost unrecognizable !

Red Wine Aziz, Sorry to hear that ! After Revolution, they mosadereh people's houses for no good reasons ... What they did was illegal ! Shame !
... My grandfather owned an international trade company mostly for exporting cotton to countries such as Russia . He owned acres and acres of farm land in Northern Iran but then , there came the White Revolution, and then many acres were taken from him by force and given to the villagers. Those lands never cultivated as used to, mainly due to the fact that the people to whom the lands were given did not have the money to cultivate the land further. During "White" so called "Revolution" the entire cotton industry flushed down the toilet... I should say that the entire agriculture industry in general. Most of those villagers sold their share and came to the capital (Tehran) basically doing nothing and looking for a job that they could not find. With no training and or education most ebd up being poor and homeless once ran out of the money! White revolution destroyed agricultural industry and actually create jobless and poor people. My Grandfather died Shortly from heart attack after Shah took his lands and destroyed his international business. Still A few acres left to him that was passed to my father but then those acres were taken and mosadereh again; this time after the revolution of 1979. My family went through two revolutions ...
When I visited Northern Iran last year, even there the lands that were supposed to be for agriculture are mostly turned to houses,apartments,shops and restaurants. That is unhealthy for the agriculture and for the economy; something that started long before 1979 revolution .
