ReportDear Zendanian
I think what our friends is (very correctly) implying here is that fact that democracy is not something that you can give to or take away from a people.
They either have it in their culture or they do not.
Unfortunately as a nation we Iranians DO NOT and as explained in perfect examples by our friend Fred our behaviour both in our personal and in out social and family life is a self testament to such fact.
However this does NOT mean that we as a nation could never achieve democracy like the other countries have. But this takes long work and tremendous effort from at least two or three generations and from every member of the society who need to first keep a check on themselves and their own behaviours before starting to judge let alone preach the others.
Even then our democracy will never be exactly the same as others (European or US), but it will reflect out culture values and behaviours.
So to cut a story short any one who is really interested in democracy and is not just using it as a pretty slogan to attract attention, first need to start by taking a long hard look at themselves and try to improve their own attitude.
Now, some people might come back and tell me that even if we did that there is still no guarantee as the Persian slang expression says
“baa yet gol keh bahaar nemishe”
my answer to those people would be that in spring each flower blossoms on its own time and right and will not wait for others to lead the way

ReportDear Aryo barzan
"Reds" who don't want to accept they made mistake by provoking naive Iranian people against shah are good example of totaliterian regime and anti democracy. They're the most ugliest people on the face of the earth.
Funny part is these crowd keep talking about democracy but if they no respect for human lives and democracy at all. If they are in position of power (as they have been in USSR, China, Albani, and some African nations) they are the worst dictator in the history of mankind.
They torture, massacre and imprison people for no good reason. History shows they're the most monsters on the face of the earth. Just take a look at Mengistu Haile Mariam and "Red Terror" in Ethiopia. They are critical of "Free World" and shahanshahi army or S.A.V.A.K. At the same time they close their eyes to what they comrades were doing around the world.
Zendanian – An injury to one is an injury to all.
ReportAreyo Barzan khan, Iran has been the vanguard of democracy in Middle East for the last century or so.
From our Constitutional Revolution, to Nationalization of Oil Industry, to the brief period from 1977 to 1979, before establishment of the current theocracy, Iran has been at the forefront of struggle for democracy and people's rule in the region.
According to some historians of Iran (whom I agree with) mal-development of Capitalism in Iran, since Ghajars to Pahlavi to now, has been the key and fundamental problem in Iran, and cause of Iranian nation not being able to institutionalizing Democracy and people's rule, as we see in the West, or even India (the largest democracy in the world).
To make a long story short, institutionalization of democracy in any society is not only a cultural, psychological process, but much more complex and also entails a specific set of political-economy, mainly development of markets, growth of Industrial Bourgeoisie, and laws protecting those two. All of which we have never adequately had.
My humble two cents! cheers

ReportCould not agree with you more! May I also add that Iranian struggle for democracy and freedom goes back at least 120 years! In addition, it was Mossadegh that set into motion the modern struggle(s) against the blatant Western colonialism that resulted in uprisings that reverberated throughout the region, causing the extermination of most of those poppet monarchial regimes, and its colonial established/appointed monarchs, and the poppet “Kings”; Iraq, Syria, Egypt, Libya, and others come to mind.
In my humble opinion, none of that would have happened had it not been for the inspiration and the strength of determination that was displayed by a gentle elderly man called Mossadegh.
Zendanian – An injury to one is an injury to all.
ReportMosadegh (RIP) has many contributions and achievements. He also had many mistakes and limitations, (like most human beings). His most significant mistake perhaps was, not being fully prepared for the Coup. Cheers

ReportThanks for the post.
The photo say it all. Thousands words can not say as much as this photo can. Padeshahi is in "Collective UNconscious" of all Iranians. All democratic and progressive countries such as Holland, U.K runs with monarchy.
Padeshahi will be restored in Iran soon.
