This week in a party with some old friends, this lady was talking about how she used to do crazy things in iran when she was very young. She used to swing from tree branches and also used to jump from one house to another one from the roof. what made it interesting for me is what she said about when a khastegaar came to see her cousin and this lady who was only eight or nine dressed up and went and introduced herself to the khastegaar so he would marry her instead. she was telling us that at that age she had no idea about sex but she wanted to marry only because she wanted to put on lipstick. I asked maryam if older women also marry for other reasons than loving the man. She looked at me with a hidden grin but she did not answer me. I am still trying to translate that look.
