Fereydoun Hoveyda (1924-2006) was Iran’s UN Ambassador in 1948, the year of the Creation of the State of Israel and was the signatory for Iran in recognition of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. In a recent Demonstration in Iran, President Ahmadinejad and his followers have denounced the United Nations (created on 26 June 1945 ) as a tool of American Supremacy and expressed their wish to see the Tehran Host the UN Offices (currently dispatched between New York ( General Assembly), Geneva, Nairobi, and Vienna.
Mr. Fereydoun Hoveyda ( brother of the former Prime Minister of Imperial Iran Amir Abbas Hoveyda) has been a major figure in the Public Eye be it in International Diplomacy or the world of Arts and Cinema ( One of the Founders of prestigious film Magazine Les Cahiers Du Cinema with Francois Truffaut and Jean Luc Goddard). He contributed to the Iranian.com on many occasions also as Feature Writer. I would like to draw attention to two of his articles which I believe are quite interesting and Resonating given the current international Crisis in the Middle East and particularly in Gaza. Fereydoune Hoveyda wrote an interesting book on the Arab World and their views in regard to the lingering Israeli-Palestinian Conflict entitled Que veulent les Arabes ? ( See Below).
