Shamghardi, quoted by the Iranian news agency, demanded an “unreserved apology” from Hollywood for “30 years of insults and slanders.” He also cited the film “300,” based on a graphic novel, saying it was blasphemous. This cartoon-like movie depicted the battle for Thermopylae in 480 B.C. and portrayed the Persians as barbaric. I wonder whether Shamghardi has ever seen American movies about the ancient Romans, the Spartans, Genghis Khan or the United States in Vietnam.
