Mr. Bashir was charged by the prosecutor of an international criminal tribunal with crimes against humanity and war crimes. Messrs. It now appears that Mr. Bashir too is relying on religious and ethnic allegiances to evade accountability for his crimes, with the Muslim world as a main focus of his efforts. The international community — with Muslims at the forefront — should instead stand with Mr. Bashir’s victims and demand that he be brought to justice at the International Criminal Court (ICC). Mr. Bashir has tried to paint the charges against him as a neocolonial, anti-Muslim assault on Arab and African sovereignty.
