Washington, 14 July (WashingtonTV)—Alireza Hosseini Beheshti, a top aide to defeated Iranian presidential candidate Mir Hossein Mousavi, said on Tuesday that the opposition leader will soon create a new “political front” of reformist parties.

Beheshti said that Mousavi is still working out the details with other pro-reform leaders, and plans to announce the new “political front” soon.

The move seems to indicate that Mousavi, who claims to have won the 12 June election, plans to continue with his campaign against the government of President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.

Referring to the “political front”, Mohammad Hashemi, head of the political office of the Executives of Construction Party [Kargozaran-e Sazandegi], told the ILNA news agency today that Akbar Hashemi-Rafsanjani had also earlier suggested the formation of a “moderation front”.

Hashemi said that Guardian Council Chairman Hashemi-Rafsanjani, former President Mohammad Khatami and defeated presidential candidate Mehdi Karroubi, will help Mousavi in creating a “political group”.

“How the government and system will confront such a phenomenon is vague. For example, if this political front wants to invite the people to take part in a rally, it is not clear what approach the officials will take,” he was quoted by ILNA as saying.
