Double Vision

When I first started taking photographs I saw the camera as a tool that could convey my thoughts. I took notice of artists such as Duane Michals, John Hilliard, Sophie Calle and Hiroshi Sugimoto, who made art using a camera. The artists I looked at all seemed to have a dedication to the process of photography in their work. They seemed to have a respect for the history of this relatively young art form and used its power’s of registering a slice of time along side their own artistic philosophies to push its boundaries as an art form. The aim in my work is to ask questions of the viewer and create a visual conversation. By blurring the designated genres of photography, I allow the work to hypothetically take it’s own path. Photography has always used its effortless aesthetic lure to seduce the viewer but there is a concealed part to the picture that interests me. Photography is a very complex language. Creating art is only one facet of this brilliant medium and it’s the continual discovery of this wonderful language that inspires me >>> alimobasser.com 1234 next › last »
