treehugger.com: One look at Bahar Shahpar‘s vibrant spring 2010 collection contradicts any belief that green fashion means a muted color palette. The New York-based fashion designer is known for her use of organic textiles, natural fibers, vintage detailing, and sleek tailoring. Her designs made a huge impact at the Fall 2009 Green Shows during New York Fashion Week, which she also helped launch. Shahpar considers details right down to the models’ toes — the colorful vegan heels worn during the show were made Ready to Wear through a collaboration with Cri de Coeur. Iranian-born Shahpar is paving the way for sustainable fashion and garnering respect from Hollywood; this year, she even styled musician Jason Mraz for the 52nd Annual Grammy Awards. If this is the face of eco-friendly fashion, we’re ready to suit up, please.
