Protests against G8 and Ahmadinejad’s presence in NY:

The 66th UN annual session of the General Assembly of the UN will open on Sep 13, 2011 in New York City, with the G-8 meeting regarding new democratic movements in the Middle East. This has created a unique opportunity for the Iranian and other Middle Eastern activists to echo the people’s voice in a coordinated demonstration of solidarity.

As the self-elected representative of the Islamic Republic of Iran takes part in the UN meetings, various Iranian political organizations and human rights activists will protest on Sep 22 against the extensive violation of human and civil rights in Iran. Some of the main themes of these protests include demand to put an end to death penalty, to stop torture, and to free all political prisoners in Iran. Military attacks on Kurdistan which is misleadingly broadcasted as a fight against terrorism, and suppression of the people of Azerbayjan who have been protesting against the irresponsible policies of the Iranian regime towards environment and ecological system of Oroumieh lake, as well as Islamic Republic’s support for the Syrian government’s crackdown of its people, will be strongly condemned.
