ADAPP: Three prisoners were executed in the prison of Ardabil (Azerbaijani province of Iran) early morning on Thursday.
According to the semi-official Mehr news agency, three prisoners were executed in the prison of Ardabil on Thursday May 17, 2012. The prisoners who were not identified by name were convicted of keeping and carrying narcotic drugs, said the report.
According to the report the prisoners were convicted of buying and carrying 105 grams of heroin, 498,15 grams of heroin and 160 kilograms and 493 grams of opium.
According to Mehr, Farhad Yousefi, Director of Public Relations and Communications of Ardabil’s Justice Department, said:
“The judicial system will answer the concerns of families regarding narcotic by executing the merchants of death [drug dealers]”, he said adding that the people of Ardabil will soon witness the execution of more drug traffickers.
The head of the Ardabil Judiciary previously had announced that 40 drug smugglers were sentenced to death in this province.
“Currently a number of the sentences that were issued have passed the necessary legal procedures and will soon be carried out”, Gholamali Rezayi said to Mehr.
