Tehran Univ. dorm saboteurs’ trial called for

The commander of the IRGC says a probe into the attacks on Tehran University’s dormitory is ongoing, hoping that a trial would soon be held to bring those responsible for the raid to justice.

Commander of the Islamic Revolution’s Guards Corps (IRGC) Brigadier General Mohammad Ali Jafari said on Saturday that ‘harsh’, ‘unacceptable’ and ‘criminal’ activities have taken place in the dormitory at the capital’s prestigious University of Tehran.

Brig. Gen Jafari said that those behind the attacks were “disorganized forces, whose motive remains unknown.” He, however, mentioned that none of the assailants were students.

Parts of Tehran turned into scenes of violence and unrest following the country’s 10th presidential election, in which incumbent President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad gained a landslide victory.

University dormitories were not immune to the unrest, and were attacked by forces that vandalized the buildings and beat the students.
