This is the last time I saw my daughter Mahdiyeh in Tehran. We were walking around in the Yousefabad neighborhood. It was also the last time I was in Iran, September 1995. Four years later she joined me in the U.S. Now she's a reporter, goes to college and will be moving into a studio she just purchased with her own money in Washington, DC. (She's also a "big sister" to a 7-year-old boy from a single-parent family and takes him out on Saturdays.)
Mahdiyeh turned 23 today.
She's proof that genes have little to do with what you can achieve in life.
Happy birthday azizam... XXX
