Sanaz Ebriani
I am finally living my dream as a singer. For twenty years I have
denied committing 100% to what I love most, singing [See band].
Having neglected this dream for most of my life I’ve been
working extra hard these days to make up for the unproductive years.
I
have an unwithered
thirst for musical exploration in both spiritual and intellectual
terms. My goal is to inspire others to see music not as a "cool" or "hip" thing,
but rather as a spiritually healing and mentally challenging endeavor.
My influences range from people like my father who's both an artist
and musician along with other musicians like Carmen, Sarah, Billie,
Ella, Nancy Wilson, Dinah Washington, Betty Carter, Nina Simone,
Old Blue Eyes, Nat "King" Cole, Ray Charles, Stevie Wonder,
the list goes on and on. I chose music over other artistic expressions
because I felt it was the most direct reflection of my personality,
my soul, and my life experiences. I received my jazz education
from various sources such as jazz pianist Gerald Wiggins under
SMC’s Jazz Mentorship program, UC Jazz Director Bevan Manson,
and currently receiving instruction from Jay Lehman at Laney College
