Iranian-Japanese pitches no-hitter at Koshien

Tohoku High School right-hander Yu Darvish pitched a no-hitter
in the Miyagi Prefecture school's
2-0 victory
over Kumamoto Kogyo at the national high school baseball invitational
tournament on Friday.
The 17-year-old, whose father is Iranian and mother Japanese,
allowed just three runners on base on two walks and a third baseman
error
in the first-round game at Koshien Stadium in Hyogo Prefecture
and struck out 12, including six straight in the third and fourth
innings, in his 129-pitch outing. (Kyodo News)
