The
University of La Verne has named its new associate vice president for regional
campuses, who will help with the strategies and operation of the
university's several campuses and residence centers throughout
California.
Homa Shabahang, who has more than 17 years as an academic administrator,
will take the position July 15. She has served as associate dean
for the College of Professional Studies at the University of San
Francisco since August 2000. Prior to that, Shabahang was associate
dean for the School of Business & Economics at Chapman University,
an assistant economics professor at Cal State Fullerton and chairwoman
of the economics department at Rochester Institute of Technology
in New York.
Shabahang earned a bachelor's degree in economics
with a minor in public administration from Pahlavi University,
Shiraz, Iran.
She later earned a master's in economics from Texas A&M University-Kingsville
and a doctorate in economics from the University of Oklahoma.
