Shaherezade "Shari" Mowlavi sang
the role of
Donna
Anna in the production
of Don Giovanni, the last offering from Repertory
Opera Company in Pomona, southern California, this season [Another
photo]. Mowlavi returned to the ROC after appearing with the company
last
year
as Violetta in La Traviata
and Adina in L’Elisir d’Amore. After graduating
Magna Cum Laude from Rice University in both Vocal Performance
and Linguistics, she became a Masters student at Boston University’s
Opera Institute. In Boston, she has appeared as Micaela in Carmen,
the Countess in Le Nozze di Figaro, Lucia in Britten’s The
Rape of Lucretia and in the title role in Mozart’s La Finta
Giardiniera. In
addition to her appearance in Don Giovanni, Shaherezade also currently
appears in Long Beach Opera’s production of Handel’s
Semele.
