Dear family and friends,

This afternoon [July 5th] our beloved Sam passed on. He was 14 and a half years old, and over 100 in dog years. He graced our lives with love, affection, wisdom and fun. He taught us patience, generosity, grace and unconditional love, amongst many other virtues. His gentleness made him a favorite with little children and babies. He cured several children and adults of severe dog phobia. By the end of a party phobic kids would be hanging on him saying “Mommy, I don’t want to go home. I want to stay with Sammy.” He partied with us, went for long walks in the woods, sailed with us and was our constant loving companion. He was loved and respected by the neighbors. In his last couple of months Nick would see him come walking down the road with a rawhide bone in his mouth, as proud as if he had been carrying a gazelle. It turns out a neighbor set these out for him, delighted that he would think he was stealing them. One family kept a rug for him where he would sit when he visited, which he did every day. We remember him so fondly. Not a single time did he woke us wanting to go out in the morning. Like a true gentleman he would wait till we came downstairs. For the past year or so his joint problems made it hard to climb steps, but at every family function, he had to be included. If we were in the kitchen he would lie down right in the middle of our small kitchen happily watching his family.

Thank you for all the love you gave our Sir Sam Boogandoo Lore! We hope you get it back tenfold. Sam would’ve loved it! He was an example to live by!
