In an exclusive interview for Newsnight, Nato Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen said Nato had ''no plans to intervene'' in the crisis in Libya. However, he added: ''If we can be of any help, we stand ready with the assets at our disposal''.

They are being paid about $10,000 (£6,000) to join up and they are being told that they will get $1,000 a day to fight.
