Ron Paul to Israel: I want to cut off US foreign aid to you! At last night’s Fox News GOP presidential debate, Ron Paul was the clear star. The audience would, for the most part, applaud the loudest at anything and everything he said, but that was mostly due to his few followers in the audience, his acolytes called the Paul-ites. They would always applaud the loudest, creating the fake impression that Paul had broad, GOP support. Paul’s debate performance was also noteworthy for another reason: His hostility towards Israel. He said that he wants to cut off all foreign aid the US distributes, which would hit Israel particularly hard since it currently is the number one recipient of US foreign aid.
Of course, Paul and his band of merry and fanatical followers called Paul-ites like to spin their hostility towards Israel by couching it in devious terms, but we still know hostility to Israel when we see it. In example, the way that Paul argued his anti-Israel, anti-foreign aid point last night was to claim that he didn’t want the US t... >>>

The left in this country
by Soosan Khanoom on Tue May 10, 2011 02:01 PM PDTThe left in this country includes large numbers of academics, journalists, human rights activists, environmental and animal rights activists, entertainers, and some church and Synagogue groups, women's groups, racial advocacy groups and unions. There are also some liberals who are members of these same groups.
But some Liberals, however, support assertive foreign policies, not much different from neo—conservatives. On the other hand we may occasionally see a few republicans like Ron Paul who are actually not supportive of such a foreign policy. They are not much different from leftists views in that regard.....
Some of these leftists are socialists but not necessarily all of them are.
Leftists are not against Israel as many may suggest. They are peace advocates who are fighting for Palestinians rights and equality. And many of them are even Israelis....
By the way , as you mentioned any popular figure can become a Fascists eg. Hilter
ok now are we at the same page on these terminologies ...... or am I missing something? if so please explain
on "leftist Israelis"
by Roozbeh_Gilani on Tue May 10, 2011 12:00 PM PDTGiven the fact that "Left" is merely a relative term, a brief review of zionism and it's history would tell you who the real leftist Israelis are!
Dont take this as an insult, nor as my support for zionist cause. But For a person of "peace", advocating "open mindednes" on this site, I find your thinking somehow too inflexible and rigid, not seeing where various ideologies overlap and where to draw the line between "socialism" "populism" and "fascism".
My previous comment was meant that way

Ron Paul's chance of winning the presidential election
by Bavafa on Tue May 10, 2011 11:32 AM PDTIs as probable as Khamenie's chance to win the presidential/leadership post in Iran in a free and open election, but all for the different reason.
Ron Paul strike a cord with much of the liberal and educated part of America, but then he has pretty much all the big and elite power against him, specially the military industrial power and the powerful AIPAC so he will never get even a remote chance of wining.
However, here is the only active Republican that I can see to vote for him. There are a couple of other (retired) Republican that I would support if they were to run, but they are in the same boat as Ron Paul so they are not going to run.

fine line between populism and fascism
by Roozbeh_Gilani on Tue May 10, 2011 11:01 AM PDTPopulist politicians never impress me, nor do they impress the masses any longer since the best known of them, committed suicide while hiding in his bunker in Berlin in fear of what the Commi Red troops would do to him and his pretty girlfriend!
The bulk of this one's ever decreasing circle of supporters seem to be divided between white "non_interventionist", nationalist americans and"intellectuals" amongst the muslim immigrants, desparately seeking for a breakthrough into the main stream US politics in order to push their "anti_zionist" agenda. So I am not at all surprised to hear he accepted donations from KKK or any other nasty quarters.

by Mash Ghasem on Tue May 10, 2011 06:54 AM PDTDidn't he also accept donations from KKK for his campaign? Yes he did. That should say it all about him and his 'principals.'
How dare he?
by Soosan Khanoom on Tue May 10, 2011 06:34 AM PDTI like him actually because of his position on the Libya war .....
hmmm he is very brave ...... we should wait and see for the outcome of his latest comment.
Although just by saying that he should kiss GOP nomination goodbye ....
