Reporting from Beirut and Tehran—

Supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei wanted to send his onetime protege Mahmoud Ahmadinejad an unmistakable message: You're replaceable.

The Iranian president had been skipping Cabinet meetings, apparently over Khamenei's decision to overrule his firing of the country's intelligence chief. So Khamenei asked a conservative lawmaker to begin assembling a caretaker Cabinet, just in case the president resigned or had to be removed, said an Iranian official close to the politician.

Thank you, RG, for your post! Wow! You were in Iran before the election and witnessed the history!

I hope Persian Spring will come to Iran very soon! I can't wait!

Everything is fluid.....lets see how long AN will last and what will happen next! Payvand News said Mashaie may get arrested pretty soon! OMG! Mousavi and Karoubi are not officially arrested yet, only house arrest, but a guy from AN's camp may be arrested 1st! Unbelievable!

I will stay tuned!

Yolanda, the "elections"

by Roozbeh_Gilani on

were a joke to start with before even the clumsy, obvious rigging of the rsults by ahmadinezhad and khamenei. I was in Iran at the time and people were half expecting the fraud and openly talking about the mass demos whilst the charade of "candidates debating on TV" was happening.

You see, the uprising after the election had little to do with results, it was just an explosion of anger and disgust against this fascist islamist dictatorship.

what is being challenged and questioned by Iranian people inside Iran is the legitimacy of the islamist regime and it's entire leadership. The regime has completely lost it's legitimacy. The lines are drwan between the regime / their supporters (Most estimates put them no more than 5 million) and the rest of population of Iran, the 65million. The next couple of years are going to be very interesting. Every Iraninan no matter where they are, need to prepare themselves physically and mentally for armed uprising against the regime which will happen, without a shred of doubt within the next few years.

Thank you, RG!

It is amazing how fast Khamenei threw AN under the bus!

I am still trying to catch up with the latest development!

I was wondering if IRGC officially admits that "election" was rigged......people will protest or celebrate? I want to see how the whole mess and big lie ends!

What "election" you might ask yourself? with candidates themselves handpicked by regime before hand!

P.S.: I see you are also being stalked like Fred. You must be writing something good, exposing the islamist regime so good, that as we say in farsi, your stalkers "Rear end must be burningt badly" :)

Thank you, and keep writing my friend. Dont be bullied by islamist regime's cyber thug.

Ahmadinejad eventually returned to work. But he also had a message for Khamenei: I can still make a big mess.
.....................

Khamenei's request to lawmaker Mohsen Rezai to begin assembling a Cabinet was probably an attempt to play on the rivalry between the two men, who ran against each other in 2009. During Ahmadinejad's absence from work, state television also showed Tehran Mayor Mohammed Baqer Qalibaf, another intense rival of Ahmadinejad, paying a visit to Khamenei.........

"The main aim was to frighten Ahmadinejad and to get him back to his office," said an official close to Rezai's camp, who spoke on condition of anonymity....................

According to one story circulating in Tehran, so riled were Ahmadinejad's rivals by his antics that a Revolutionary Guard commander threatened to pull the curtain on his disputed 2009 reelection, which furthered Iran's international isolation and polarized the nation...........
