12:45AM BST 08 Jun 2011 The revelation is the latest link between the Iranians and the Taliban following an operation last February in which British Special Forces found 48 powerful rockets and 1000 rounds of ammunition in two lorries in the southern province of Nimroz. A letter from Philip Parham, the head of the British Mission to the United Nations, written to the chairman of the UN Security Council Committee on Iran says: "Over a period of years elements of Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps are in regular contact with Taliban facilitators and have worked with them to provide material to Taliban fighters." Royal Marine linked to Iranian arms smuggling ring
A former Royal Marine helped smuggle scopes for sniper rifles to Iran which ended up in the hands of the Taliban, an investigation has revealed.
