President Ahmadinejad inaugurates Karoun-4 RCC dam

6, IRNA – President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad inaugurated Karoun-4
Roller-Compacted Concrete (RCC) dam in this western province Wednesday
morning.

The dam, located at 180 km southwest of the provincial capital city of Shahr-e Kord,

was built by Iranian experts with a total cost of 12.8 billion rials.

Construction of Karoun-4 is celebrated since the Islamic Republic of Iran has reached self-sufficiency in dam-building industry.

Karoun-4 is designed to generate power and provide water for agricultural and industrial purposes in the province.

It is built over Karoun River which is Iran's biggest and the only navigable, river. The river is 450 miles (720 km) long.
