Iran condemns 'Israeli spy' to death

Iran today sentenced to death a man accused of playing a key role in the 2010 murder of a top nuclear scientist and of spying for Israel, the official IRNA news agency reported.

"The sentence to execute the terrorist Majid Jamali Fashi ... has been issued" for the assassination of scientist Masoud Ali Mohammadi, Iran's prosecutor general Gholam Hossein Mohseni Ejeie said, quoted by IRNA.

Mohseni Ejeie, who is also spokesman for the Iranian judiciary, said the sentence was passed on Sunday, less than a week after the opening of Jamali Fashi's trial.

His defence lawyers have 20 days to launch an appeal.

Jamali Fashi stood trial as the main suspect in the killing of Ali Mohammadi, a particle physics professor at Tehran University who was killed in a bomb attack outside his home in January 2010.

He was accused of "Moharebe (waging war against God) using assassination as the means ... by placing a bomb-laden bike in front of Ali Mohammadi's house," the state television website reported.

So let me get this striaght when this poor fellow Majid Fashi was arrested the IR boasted how it peneetrated an Israeli spy ring in Iran and identified all of its agents. Yet despite what seems the best efforts of the Islamic Republic to purge Iran of assassins of nuclear scientists the Israelis are STILL able to allegedly kill another nuclear scientist about a month ago

which I oppose and condemn such act and regard only as State sponsored murder, it will certainly bring into question of those who allege this is a "fall guy"

How many [young] will volunteer to give his life specially that it will be in the name of a traitor and a murderer. And not to mention the long lasting [negative] affect on his family standing in the society that will last a life time to forget.

Simorgh555, how do you know this person is a "fall guy?"  Interesting how you claim you oppose supposed teghoghists when they oppose Israel, but then* enthusiastically advocate* for teghoghists when it suits your anti-Iranian agenda.

Again, just curious, based on what shred of evidence do you contend that this person is a "fall guy?"
