TEHRAN — Iran's ex-parliament speaker Mehdi Karroubi has not changed his views one iota while under house arrest, opposition website Sahamnews.net on Thursday reported the cleric's son Hossien as saying.
"He is in reasonable physical and mental condition, and during our meeting he talked about issues and insisted on sticking to his position," Hossien Karroubi said after he saw his father on Wednesday.
"I am standing firm in my stances and have not backed down one iota," he quoted his father as saying.
"Intelligence and security agents are familiar with my beliefs, and these past seven months they have not told me to write a public recantation or tried to talk to me into it," Hossien quoting his father as saying.
Karroubi has been under house arrest since February after calling for an anti-regime protest that month, resulting in an unknown number people being injured and many arrested.
His son was quoted by the website as saying that he had been able to see his father for the first time in seven months on Wednesday, when Shiite-majority Iran celebrated Eid al-Fitr at the end of Ramadan.

Don't Believe a Word
by ayatoilet1 on Thu Sep 01, 2011 06:40 PM PDTI think Karroubi is a cloth woven from the same thread that the Regime is made from. Iranians do not want fake enemies, and stalking horses at play in Iranian politics. I personally do not believe a word from his mouth or Moussavi's. The theocratic regime must go, and they must go with it. Both of them stood by while the IRGC killed thousands of inncoent Iranians. Iranians will NOT be fooled again.
Tell his son - he stands for nothing. And has never stood up for anything. He should pack his bags and get the hell out of Iran ...
