TEHRAN — Iranian pastor Yusef Nadarkhani should face the death penalty for being a traitorous "Zionist" and committing "security crimes," not for apostasy, an official said Friday according to Fars news agency, amid a Western outcry over his sentence.
Nadarkhani's lawyer told AFP that the remarks by Gholam-Ali Rezvani, deputy governor general of the northern province of Gilan, where the pastor's case is being reheard, were the first time security offences had been mentioned.
Rezvani's comments were also the first public remarks by an Iranian official about Nadarkhani's case.
"The issue of crime and of capital punishment of this individual is not a question of faith or religion -- in our system, one cannot be executed for changing their religion," Fars quoted Rezvani as saying.
Nadarkhani was, however, "a Zionist, a traitor and had committed security crimes," said Rezvani, who is responsible for security and political affairs in the province.
Mohammad Ali Dadkhah, Nadarkhani's lawyer, told AFP that Rezvani's remarks were the first time authorities had cited "security offences" against his client.
"On the apostasy, that is exactly what we were told in front of the court," he said. "However, there was no mention of security offences during the trial. These new accusations should be examined by the courts."... >>>
The Terrorist Islamic Regime occupying Iran is up to the same old tricks. When charges don't stick fabricate new ones. Pasotr Naderkhani's persecution (not prosecution) is similar to that of Sakineh Ashtiani. First they arrest and charge for her adultery and when that failed to work they charge her with the murder of her husband.
Why can't Iranians see that EVIL ISLAMIC PIGS (apology to pigs, they are much more cleaner than Muslim fanatics) occupying Iran cannot be reasoned with. These Islamic Terrorists will quite happily murder its opponents for the sheer joy of killing and none of your Green movement, your PHDs in political science, and Rights of Man by Thomas Paine will deter them.
The only way the Islamic Republic will stop killing is to be killed. I urge all Iranians to support military action. I call on Israel and Benjamin Netanyahu to green light target assassinations of members of the Islamic Republic regime whether they are in Iran, Europe or Mongolia. Israel excells at hunting Nazis so this would be a good challenge for them.
A|lterantively, the US must train Iranians to target assassinate members of the IR whether they be on a plane, car or in a hotel lobby. Send a clear message to the IR that their politicians and supporters will drop dead one by one in regardless of which corner of the world they are in. Congress should release funds for a full counter terrorism campaign against the IR. The assassination of members of the IR and the IRCG using all means should be ratified by both political parties in Congress.
It is time to end this darkness and nightmare in Iran. Please support Military Action.
Death to the Islamic Republic. Condemn it. Fight it. Destroy it.
