Fifth Column of the Postmodern Kind
Aljazeera / Hamid Dabashi This emerging band of Iranian Fifth Columnists took their crudest clue from two back-to-back interviews that US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton gave to Voice of America and BBC Persian programmes in October 2011….Some of their most brazen and hypocritical have openly asked for the US to invade Iran (one of them claiming that the annual traffic and even cancer statistics in Iran would be less than the casualties of a potential war, while another uses creative accounting with the low number of civilian casualties in Libya), while others are using convoluted Orwellian Newspeak of the crudest kind hoping to camouflage their treachery. Another gimmick of these postmodern Fifth Columnists is to try to silence their opposition by accusing them of being agents of the Islamic Republic - not a very imaginative trick, you may think, but nevertheless seemingly effective in the infested pool of exile communities. If you were ever to dare as much as utter a word against these inanities they weave together, then you must be a paid agent of the Islamic Republic. >>>
Secret wish of all Islamist,

by Veiled Prophet of Khorasan on Tue Nov 22, 2011 08:58 AM PSTI am also puzzled by your post. Beware of what? How do you define "turncoat". I define it as people who sided with Khomeini over Shah. But I do not threaten them. Just remind them that they need to live with their conscience if they got one.
As well known academic you are to set an example. As a practicing moderate Muslim show the "good" side of Islam. If this is your response then it is puzzling.
Would you please explain what you mean. Beware of what? Those of us who live in America have a right to free opinion. Anything that may be viewed as a threat is taken very seriously. Please make it clear so we get over this.
Is Iranian.com now allowing members to issue threats?

Mama,
by Anahid Hojjati on Tue Nov 22, 2011 08:35 AM PSTyou guys labeling people who are against IRI fifth column is disgusting. You are ruining the last chance that many of us ever would want to listen to your talks. You are the fifth column of IRI. Get it in your mind that time has passed that you mention US and its threat to keep people quiet against IRI. Oon Mama ra lulu bord.
Dabashi is an archaic loose
by vildemose on Tue Nov 22, 2011 08:27 AM PSTDabashi is an archaic loose canon. He needs to be put in an insane asylum. I'm not kidding.

sixth column
by hamsade ghadimi on Tue Nov 22, 2011 07:21 AM PSTone can get a glimpse of iri's fifth column through this list from "hamayesh bozorg." (see link below) the list includes one of the main organizers, casmii's co-founder rostam pourzal. ms. zandi is also very active with casmii and its sister agency niac. and of course, dabashi is a board member of niac. you can readily see how iri is organizing its fifth column in the name of "peace activism" to prolong their looting, terrorizing, raping, torturing and killing of iran and iranians.
i think those ordinary iranians who respond to iri's fifth column should rightfully be called the "sixth column."

Intellectual Fifth Columns of the Islamic Republic
by Mostafa_Jengir on Mon Nov 21, 2011 11:57 PM PSTMr. Dabashi is fond of throwing around snippets from classical literature and Orwellian quotations, wrapped in rear-guard action of covering his behind by verbal jabs at the Islamic Republic. But all those verbal acrobatics are desinged to obfiscate his true position vis-a-vis the the IRI's mindless neclear adventurism and dreams of regional hegemonism and it's suicide pact with the devil to involve Iran in a military adventure in order to resurrect the glorious days of the Islamic empire. Oh, but listen to what this indignant professor let out of his bag of panegyric tricks right in the middle of the the bombastic smoke screen he has created:
"But the current configuration of regional and global power has no moral
authority whatsoever to tell the Islamic Republic not to develop nuclear
arms. In one way or another the Islamic Republic will develop nuclear
weapons capabilities..."
There you have it. If the Islamic Republic is hell-bent on developoing neuclear weapons and challenges the US for regional hegemony and threatens ther egional and, indeed, the world stability, then according to Mr. Dabashi, it's too bad for the region and the world. Our naive professor, apparently, is unaware he is rooting for the murderous gang of IRI mafia and, is in fact acting as their intellectual fifth column, by advocating such mindless neuclear policy. Our erodite professor would do well to remember this Biblical epigram: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.
