The video opens with a statement by Secretary of State Hillary Clinton about the Egyptian uprising that sparked the so-called Arab Spring, then cuts to footage of police penning in screaming protesters with orange safety netting in late September during the early days of the Occupy Wall Street protest in New York.
"The people of the Middle East, like people everywhere, are seeking a chance to contribute and to have a role in the decisions that will shape their lives," Clinton said. "Leaders need to respond to these aspirations and to help build that better future for all. They need to view civil society as their partner, not as a threat." >>>Person | About | Day |
