Iran Didn't Hack US Drone, Experts Say

Despite reports that Iran hijacked a United States stealth military drone early this month and forced it to land in hostile territory, not everyone is buying the hype.

"Some kind of mechanical malfunction" is probably what caused the unmanned drone, a Lockheed Martin RQ-170 Sentinel (nicknamed the "Beast of Kandahar" by Afghans who'd seen it), to go down 140 miles inside Iran on Dec. 4, according to John Pike, director of the Alexandria, Va.-based think tank GlobalSecurity.org.

George Smith, a senior fellow at GlobalSecurity, echoed his colleague's assertion.

"Stuff goes wrong," Smith told SecurityNewsDaily. "It's certainly an embarrassment to the United States, as advertised. The bragging on the part of the Iranian government is unsurprising."

Pike agreed, telling SecurityNewsDaily, "The Iranians are great braggarts."

Pike believes Iran lacks the technological capability to exploit a vulnerability in the drone's GPS system. That's how Iran claimed to have taken control of the drone, according to an Iranian engineer speaking on condition of anonymity to the Christian Science Monitor.

Faramarz et al: All of you guys are wrong! Camel assist landing!

by Oon Yaroo on

The regime's claims in jamming the GPS signal and taking over the control of the drone and landing it is inaccurate.

Here are the facts:

1) A group of top notch students from the department of Information Sciences & Cybernetics at Imam Zeinolabdin in Torbat Heydariyeh were conducting experiments with their distributed sensing robots* (i.e., mounted on a bunch of camels!)

2) While they were conducting the Noon group prayer ritual, they noticed a flying object (e.g., the US RQ drone) flying around at which moment they dispatched the camels after the drone.

3) Since the drone's landing gear never engaged, they had to seekh the camels in the rear end to speed up to synchronize with the drone which resulted in the drone to actually land on the camels. Yes, camel assist landing!

The experts have noticed fuzzy light brown hairs on the drone wings most likely coming form the camels...!

* In lieu of robots, they tie a WiFi device equipped with cameras to a camel to sense movements and report back any situational awareness info to the control center! To hide the devices, they have to tie them to the special organ part of the came! :-)

Islamic goons have done a lot of harm to me. And to many other posters on this site. I want them gone and others want them to pay. American gave many of us refuge. So I say thank you America and f*** you Islamic Republic.

IRI brags about her cyber technology ranks #2 in the world. IRI also said that she will bring down more drones and she can control the drones.

//news.yahoo.com/iran-warns-downing-other-us-drones-skies-120444680.html

//www.wtsp.com/news/article/226005/81/Report-Iran-says-it-can-control-the-drone

I was waiting for IRI to repeat the miracle and to prove that downing of the 1st drone is not a fluke! But, now IRI is saying that she wanted Afghanistan to block the drone flights for her:

//www.chron.com/news/article/Iran-demands-Afghanistan-block-US-drone-flights-2405063.php

........"We have demanded the government of Afghanistan study the case seriously and not allow such an incident to happen anymore, otherwise it will be seen as an unfriendly act," Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi said, according to the report.

*******************

So, it does not sound like IRI wants to hack another drone!

At this moment, I don't know what to believe 'cause IRI has flip-flopped so many times!

You're correct about the way these morons are reacting to the drone.  This must be the scene at the IRGC base where they are keeping the drone (the ones jumping up and down, of course, being the IRGC):

On another hand, I heard that in the grand Iranian tradition, they are reading poetry to it, preferably Hafez, to see if it responds!

Hey don't give me this bull about the flag. Firstly this government is not a representative of me or America. We have been in war for the past century, every decade a new war. I served my time, did you? Or did your family get here from Mexico and now you are the true patriot and representative of Americans?
Iran has done nothing to us. NOTHING. Iranians are kind people and they are no threat to us AT ALL.
You and your like vote for a president who is proud to have served Israel. That's right, Israel is THE criteria for presidential election. What does that tell you about your government? Instead of hanging out here all day and bring more of the same news about iran, why don't you take an active role to change the sh1t in this freaking place? what the he11 do you know about iran? really? you repeat the same garbage that they tell us day and night and puke the same hate that leads to war. Get a life and make a change. we live in a country that has lied to us about everything and has murdered and killed millions of people based on those lies. what has iran done to you? what has iri done to you?
you are either lost or work for israelis, who pay their agents to spy in these kinds of media. otherwise for the life of me i can't figure you out. why are you here?
my country and flag got nothing to do with this, and i have done my service. i am proud of this country but not proud of what has become and now represents. not proud of people like yourself. clear? Iran is not my enemy and israel is not my problem.

Let's see if IRI can repeat her hacking feat!

I am all confused

by iamfine on

Some say Iran doesn't have the technology and US drone malfunctioned and broke its landing gear. Then it was glided by truck to the Iranian military base. Others say, Iran has the technology and was able to force it to land. IRI is saying we can down more drone in the near future. I think the only way to believe who is right or wrong is to wait and see if Iran can do it again. That simple

A Tall Tale by the Regime!

If this drone was hacked and safely landed as the Regime claims, then why is it that its landing gear never opened? And when they displayed it why did they put it on a big table instead of rolling it on its wheels?

This drone malfunctioned and glided down when it ran out of fuel with some damage to its nose. The Regime found it, cut its wings to fit it into a truck and had a news conference. First they said that they shot it down. But then they realized that there is no damage to the drone. So they came up with the hacking story.

The way these guys are in awe by the drone, it shows that they have no idea what they are looking at. Just like a bunch of Boozineh jumping up and down and scratching their heads and chests!
