One has been the scourge of Washington for more than 50 years, the other a relative newcomer to the 'U.S. public enemy' hall of fame.
But two of America's biggest foes defied warnings this week to come together and declare they were allies 'fighting on the same front'.
Smartly dressed Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad talked to the tracksuited retired Cuban revolutionary Fidel Castro, who appeared to be wearing slippers, for two hours during his whistle-stop tour to the communist Caribbean country.
Ahmadinejad, leader of the pariah state currently under fire for its nuclear programme, later said: 'Relations between Iran and Cuba are very friendly and historic. Really, we are fighting on the same front.
'We tried to talk about lots of issues. It made me enormously happy to see the comandante healthy and fit. We are good friends, and will be good friends, together, forever.'

My arse bleeds for you Fidel. Maybe, you can ask your friend what happened in 1988 when thousands of your Comrades were killed in Iran's prison purges and dumped in a mass grave.
You are 'Communist' afterall or just another petty dictator? Whatever good Castro did for his country on the social-economic front he totally disgraces himelf by reaching out to Ahmadinejad.
