Using Persian calligraphy, ancient architecture and storytelling traditions
as her inspirations, Mitra Ghaffari has been collaborating with artists
of East and West , Jiang Jin and Elsa Marley, in a series of contemporary
work combining the aesthetics of twenty first century America with the
traditions of the Eastern world, attempting to dissolve the borders of
East and West. In their collaborations they use ancient motifs and materials
(ink and brush painting, mineral and vegetable colors, on rice paper),
while bringing their own individual imagination and sensitivity.
