The comment at the bottom of this article looks familiar and very Iranian.

It's not even a "sexy" photo or pose, just someone becoming relaxed about nakedness. Most Iranians have been brought up in a household or culture in which nudity was shameful and discouraged, so this is a step towards banishing old fashioned values.  

Re JJ: She's free

Because Golshifteh's boobs get so much attention among us , here's my two cents, summarized :

1) Yes, she is free to decide what she wants to do in her carrier. Her first choice of becoming a movie star, was not decided with our approval, so I don't see why would she  need our approval now?

2) But, there's nothing "revolutionary" nor "admiring" in what she did. Nothing to applaude for! She is doing her job, like many other people who have a  motto and they follow it in their daily work.

3) Still, I am personally disappointed in her doing this. But, this is completely personal. I liked her innocent way and I had  valued her acting most!

4) Globally, the timing was bad (not her fault , of course) because it happened right after closing the "Cinema house" of Iran and also the great victory of Asghar Farhadi as an Iranian director (which might remind people of Golshifteh's victory  and lead to the question that: Where will Farhadi goes tomorro?)

All in all, I agree with you that, she is free to do whatever she decide to do in a free world.

As for us, the Iranians, I think there are more important subjects to   care about.

"Vice" Police Officers!

The only difference between those who criticize Shifteh and the "Vice" police officers under IR is they live in the free world and cannot harass her!

Their desperate attacks are out of frustration!

These are mostly country bumpkins who, thanks to mullahs, are living in the free world. They simply cannot rid themselves of the crude manners they grew up with, no matter how many years they live in the modern world.

I am confused

Watching this clip and reading the relevent comments confuses me.

now and at the very present Iranin people are being suffocated by a
barbaric islamic rejime and all we can do to fight back is taking our
cloth off and showing off  titts. Well done girl.

Good on her , she has a nice body and can do whatever she likes
to do with it ,  however this is not going to help any soule back in
Iran.

Never forget that as an Iranian we all have a duty to clean
up the country from this filthy rejime and this kind acts are not  very effective,

There's news, photos, videos coming out of Iran every single day about the misery these religious madmen are imposing on an entire nation. We see it every day. So we are kept up in arms and bewildered constantly. Now while we endure all that, it's inspiring, uplifting, motivating, and absolutely wonderful when one person decides to be herself and reveal or her body by her own choice, regardless of what you and I or those creeps in power may think of her. She's free.

It takes time that average Iranians do not take all nudity photos to their bedroom.  We are also nude when we take a shower, when we urinate and when we poop.  We have to become nude when we need a treatment/check-up at a health clinic.  There are so many other important facts in a nude photo than a sexual stimulation.  In my opinion Iranian nude photos help other Iranians to have another look at themselves and know their own self better.  The first question to ask is why a woman's nudity makes another man/woman insecure.

Thank you for your very well written opinion about all this... As an Iranian man, I agree with your thoughts and Golshifteh Farahani's personal choice & action 100%. This is her life and choice as an artist (and a free soul) and no one else's business to judge... Unfortunately we Iranians have been so deprived of sexuality & any proper sex and education about it that we have become a very twisted and sick nation about it... I would also argue that majority of our existential , cultural , social, individual and even political problems to this day have been deeply impacted by our lack of national & cultural education & understanding about this very subjects of human sexuality and freedom ... I also believe that on these particular subjects (Freedom & Sexuality) the French and most northern Europeans are centuries ahead of us Iranians and all those other nations that have been deeply infected by fanatic religion/s that include the United States and even the U.K.

Consciousness, Proper Awareness & Education are the Solutions ...

Free Iran & Iranians.

• It is not just men who show "disapproval" but also women. Many people get real uncomfortable with bodies. What a shame since a body is what we got to be in.
• It is also not just Islam but other major religions. Reminds me how free ancient Greeks were and how much we regressed. The whole Christian"morality" is based on worship of miser. It was then imitated by Islam.
• Nobody is asking you for approval or advise do you get it. Golshifteh is grown up and makes her own decisions. If you do not approve: tough! When are Muslims going to get that world does not revolve around them.

Its called Freedom/Liberty

She does not need anyone's approval. It is purely her choice. You do not like it, don't look at it. I hope woman in Iran have the freedom to do this if they want to. This should be an individual choice- Whether the person is a man or woman.

Some fossilized radicals/Tudeh Members and IRI apologist responsible for the Iranian revolution/ who supported the revolution, still do not understand this concept but they live in the West complaining about it and preaching to us about it. 

Many educated Muslims still do not get the concept of liberty.
