Well, we seem to have a basic disagreement about the nature of intelligence. I don't think people's lifestyle choices have any bearing on their intelligence one way or another. There are very bright people flipping burders at McDonalds and there are very dumb people holding high positions at major corporations.

At least a dumb person in the military will be identified as such and given an appropriate job. That's a lot better than having an idiot in charge of something that impacts the whole world. Wouldn't you agree?

Just because someone is useful in a squad or fire team, doesn't make them smart! and if someone doesn't give a hoot about the war and shooting people they're not dumb.

I was merely pointing out that I have some experience with quickly differentiating between the stupid and the extremely stupid.

Right! Because we'd rather have somebody who is borderline retarded running the country than serving as the junior-most rifleman in an infantry fireteam. Or something.

You know the saddest part is that most the people who claim Gore, Palin, or Bush are idiots aren't any smarter than them.

Nope, I'm sorry I disagree. Gore is just better coached, but he really is dumb as a box of rocks! I spent 6 years in the infantry in the USMC. I can spot the guys who need somebody to hold their hand 24/7 a mile away! GWB would have been able to at least manage Fire Team leader, and Palin  prolly would have made a good Squad Leader. Gore is one of those "Who should I send on the work detail today? Oh, I know! I'll send PFC Gore because he's totally effing useless" guys. That, and he'd be that one guy who keeps coming up positive on the piss tests which annoys the hell out of everyone.

I just typed "Al Gore dumb as a box of rocks" in Google and got 35,000 hits.

When I typed in "Sarah Palin dumb as a box of rocks" I got nearly 2 billion hits.

Not sure what that means but since nobody who has language skills is dumber than Al Gore I'll assume Sarah Palin is just THAT MUCH more popular than Al Gore is, that even her critics talk about her endlessly.

And I'll remind you all once again: Al Gore is the dumbest human being to have ever held elected office. He is the absolute "Gold Standard" when it comes to idiot politicians. Even George Bush was visibly exasperated by Al Gore's stupidity during the 2000 debates. And that's really saying something isn't it?
