Feminists vs Hajiagha debate

I thought of having a debate between Haji and Feminists. I just want to encourage feminists to join and take Haji as a challenge. I think if feminists can lead Haji in the right direction, they can lead anyone to understand feminism. I can moderate if necessary (translate if necessary) and it may be an interesting debate. Hopefully it won't be a bust. It's worth trying and I hope you encourage your feminists friends, not even feminists your female friends to participate. It can also be humorous.

As you may know Haji's job was to be humorous in Iran for Gol Agha newspaper and he has continued his sense of humor through his weekly cartoons and comments.

Haji has suggested for a volunteer to meet with him so others can see that he really respects women. I'm sure he is going to be respectful, funny and been told he is a good dinner conversationalist as well. Maybe a feminist can volunteer to have dinner with Haji and report back to us. Maybe even JJ or his private investors can pay for dinner for 2 in Vancouver since Haji has been a loyal contributor for many years now.

So without any further commotion, let's get this started. I'll ask the first questions, one question for Hajiagha and one question for feminists.

Hajiagha: Feminists believe modernity is essential in Iran for human rights and women's rights in particular. Do you believe modernity should be accepted for women in Iran?

Feminists: Hajiagha believes that women should not be equal to men in society because nature created them differently. What can you tell Hajiagha about the need to have equal rights for women?

An art gallery to share

by Anonymouse on

Khanum haana Haji is busy setting up his art gallery and is tired so he wrote in Farsi. As far as having something to share and give in return, how about his art gallery that he is setting up? You can check it out and talk more there. So it is a DEAL on his side. What about you? Do we have a DEAL? When do you think you can go to Vancouver? Thanksgiving is coming up and things are going to get busy for travelers, if you are traveling. If you are close to Vancouver then Thanksgiving won't be a problem. So what say you?

Anonymouse

Haji we figured you were busy

by Anonymouse on

Well there is one Khanum hana who is considering meeting you. Lets get some factor again since you must be tired. Anyway, we take it you ready and it is a DEAL. Now lets see if Khanum hana is ready.

Going to Vancouver?

by Anonymouse on

Khanum hana you said you are in Toronto, is there a trip to Vancuover coming up? You are still in the running. You have to discuss your plans to meet Haji with him through his email. He wants a photo first, but maybe we can take an exception and have you 2 meet in a Starbucks somewhere in a Vancouver mall. After that it depends on where your conversation takes you.

The only thing we as the Iranian.com readers want from you is to meet him and report back to us. He has said he respects women and would welcome an opportunity to discuss it with a volunteer. We just want to get a woman's response after meeting him. If things go well we can all chip in and mehmoon you guys to a nice dinner.

What's the worst it can happen with a girlfriend?

by Anonymouse on

Rosie he wants to get a girlfriend so lets find him one first and then we can haggle about other stuff! Besides what is the worst that can happen? if the girlfriend becomes too controlling or needy driving Haji up the walls, he can always say if you keep this up I'll start drawing a sexy cartoon of you! As far as US immigration Haji knows more but I sort of remember few years ago he became actual news when tried to enter US like he normally did before. I searched the old Iranian website and here's a link. Perhaps one day things will change and he can get back to US. After all he is just a political satirist.

I am absolutely amazed!

by H (not verified) on

Has it accured to anybody that Hagiagha could be a comedian who does not just draw cartoons but has created the Hajiagha persona as a caricature to piss evey Iraninan.com reader off? I would be very surprised if Hajiagha was real. He is a probably a very intelligent, well-educated, open-minded, liberal who is taking us all for a spin.

OK, well...

by Rosie T. on

so if you two guys are determined to go the girlfriend route I won't say anymore about it.  As for Playboy well Haji sometimes you talked about friends up there. Do you have any friends up there who could go over your material with you, just for starters?

About immigration, Mouse, does it make sense for Haji to say APPROACH US immigration and find out what his chances are and if there are any restrictions on him?  Or could that put negative attention on him that might hurt him in entering the US next time? Or am I just paranoid because of things people said before about how his cartoonings would affect his immigration status? Maybe they were talking bs...

Haji is that the correct address for cash donations?

by Anonymouse on

Haji I'm am not joking. I really want to send you some cash donations in mail. Cash can be sent in mail. I can send less first time and if you get it I can send the rest of what I intended to send.

I have the letter stamped and cash ready but don't want to send it if that is your bank's address. You won't get it.

Do you have a mailing address or a P.O. Box address in a post office? Please tell me your correct mailing address, if you have one.

3 Wishes

by Anonymouse on

Haji work on the 3rd wish. The other 2 wishes may never happen. Immigration is getting harder in US by the day and it is going to be hard if not impossible to move to Los Angeles legally. If you go illegally then you'll have less rights than Canada.

About your 3rd with to find a woman, I think you sometimes make it harder for yourself. For example, when you say you haven't had sex in years or are going crazy without sex and someone help you and so on, it doesn't help your cause.

Just say the sexy cartoons you draw are based on your previous run ins with the Iranian women in Canada and Los Angeles.

You can say you are looking for a woman who is NOT like them. So women can't disagree with you. So you make it easier a woman to say yes.

Difficulties not associated with Haji in relationships

by Anonymouse on

Rosie drawing for Playboy is a good idea but who is going to talk to Playboy and get Haji on board? English problems for starters and continuing the discussion with them. We can't do it here over the internet.

About getting into a relationship and fucking it up, it usually happens with people who are hard headed or too intellectual with quirky habits that must get things their own way. Haji is a simple man and this is a good thing which will help him have a good life, with or without a relationship. However, a relationship with a woman can help him talk to Playboy for him, help him get his ideas off the ground and share time with him. The rest will happen as things progress.

Hajiagha in a debate?

Oh, please. He is an intellectual midget. Based solely upon his deeply distorted sense of reality, this guy is so dense he's unable to count to 21 unless he was naked. (Well, actually. that would make it 20 1/2)

His engagement in a debate is the academic equivalent of being a one-legged man in an ass-kicking contest.

Mouse/Where are the Feminists?

by Rosie T. on

Well where would they be?  What could their argument be?  You have your finger on the mouse and either you click or you don't, so if you're poking around in something you know is going to offend you, it's really your own "issues", isn't it?

Mouse, I really admire your efforts to help Haji.  There is one thing I keep reiterating here:  Haji should get help in submitting to a magazine like Playboy; I think he could be very successful, given the topicality of his being Iranian and the political element that is almost always implicit (if not explicit) in his cartoons.  Playboy is oddly political in its own way, Heffner always saw himself as a reformer.

The other thing, after seeing the I love Iran cartoon, I wonder if Haji couldn't team up with someone and make and sell T-shirts, some for Iranians, Iranian pride, and some for solidarity with Iran. (But please nothing about nuking,Haji....  :D   )  It seems that with all the traffic Haji generates for this site, JJ could be amenable to providing advertising space for him here.

I personally DON'T think pursuing  a relationship is a good idea for you right now, Haji.  I know from my own experience that when I am vulnerable and enter into a relationship, I tend to f- it up, and then I am really and truly devastated. I don't think that's a risk you should take right now, but that's just my opinion. Take it or leave it but please understand I say it out of concern for you.

I think it would be much better if you get a solid grounding with your cartoons, and I think it is VERY do-able, and you could make money and feel better about life and "sucky" Canada and so on, and then you will be in a position to form a solid relationship where you won't self-sabotage and wind up getting hurt.

Sorry if I sound like a busy-body.  I just really admire your work and your efforts to cope with difficult situations.

Honesty on blogs

by Anonymouse on

I meant being honest when describing your feelings or views in this blog. None of us know each other here and if can't be honest to ourselves to write our true feelings then forget about it.

I am making my own interpretations of Hajiagha the artist as a friend. He took my suggestion for the ad as a friend. If he asks me to stop, I'll stop.

Anonymouse Focal point

by Yek Nafar (not verified) on

Anonymouse

Focal point should be the peach because the sex would be obvious. So the peach would be digging deeper than what meets the eye. So family values being forgotten is the surface. Digging deeper will take you to the humanity of situations.

Honesty is non existent. No such a thing exists because we have perceptions and deceptions. It is a myth. But in Haji's case, if he was to be honest, he would also draw about men and their forgotten values. As a man, gay or not, he could be critical of men's sexual normes. I think it could be interesting.

But again, I do think you and Haji are the same person. If you are not, Haji should be very humiliated that you are explaining him to us and that as an artist, he has given his voice to another.

Anonymouse.......Send a money order.............

by Sasha on

Anonymouse if you are going to send anything to Haji send it as a money order that he can put in the bank. Never send cash.

Haji should also consider making some of his cartoons into gift cards to sell. He can market them to the Iranian community. He has to select the least offensive of course. He can look back to ones he drew back in Iran too.

No advise here

by Anonymouse on

Yek Nafar this is not about your specific case. My comments were meant to say divorce is a "surprise" for everyone and people who are contemplating divorce know it or will get to know it. This debate is about being honest and facing some realities on both sides, Haji's and feminists. You can read your own original comments below, I won't repeat them. when you have men and women cheating around, do you expect a cartoonist to go into the details and get all the facts straight? Cartoonist look for the simple outcomes and the most likely interpretation. They can't write a dissertation. The fact that family values are being forgotten should be no surprise to anyone. I suppose you can draw a porn star eating a peach while having sex. What would be the focal point, the peach or the sex?

Mr anonymouse no you are not

by Yek Nafar (not verified) on

Mr anonymouse no you are not aware of all the facts. But I appreaciate the advices for me. Now I think you and Haji are the smae person. Haji himself has not commented really much here for us to know what he wants. Maybe he is gay and that makes him angry at women who could have helped him if he were straight. But also realizing that he is gay and this is "faased" in his mind, he goes after drawing "mobtazal" cartoons. Maybe you should also advertise for a man. He could meet with 2 of them and then decide which man or woman he needs in his life. He is lucky because in Canada he won't get stoned for sodomy. So then he can live free with his partner and not worry about Iran. This theory might also explain his fixation with dildos and other items that most married couples (I can attest to this) do not own. The anger could be from self gay hatred. In my town, many old abondoned but beautiful buidlings have a face lift from male gay community. They make money and know about art and are making money and turning the city to beauty. Maybe Haji needs to combine his art with a man's money and take that project to Vancouver. All his urges from artistic to sexual can be taken care of. He can then turn to cartoons about flowers and peaches.

Anonymouse

Haji is that address still correct?

by Anonymouse on

I'm going to send you some cash this weekend. Is that address valid? I don't want the cash to go to a Canadian Postman! It won't be good for you or me, some cash will be lost for no good reason. You don't have to send me the cartoons. I'll "order" the cartoon(s) and you can publish them right here in iranian.com. That's not the bank address, is it? That's your mailing address?

Anonymouse

Divorce is a surprise for everyone

by Anonymouse on

Yek Nafar haven't you ever talked to a friend or family that suddenly tells you he/she is talking about divorce with his/her spouse? It is always a surprise. Divorce starts after lingering problems and becomes a "surprise" for the married couple themselves the first time they actually talk about it and later at some point it gets expanded to other friends and family. Before it becomes a surprise to others, the couple tries to work it out or figure out how to go their own ways and the consequences. I don't know and don't want to tell you what to do. You do what you think is right, but don't think family considerations (your children, parents, sibblings and others) on both your side and your family side is something that is sacred. At some point you have to deal with this, whether you do it now at 33 or 35 or 45 or 55 or beyond. At some point it'll happen, either by you or your husband. There are exceptions and everyone thinks he or she is an exception, but we're not talking exception here. Men who get divorced usually after a long depressing marriage tell themselves and their kids that if they had known better, they would have done it much sooner and would not have made a miserable life for you, your mother or myself. What do women usually say?

Anonymouse

Haji can use a partner

by Anonymouse on

Sasha Haji can use a wife to help him move ahead in his life. There are stereotypes like behind every successful man there is a woman and other stuff. In Haji's case he can use a wife to help him to be able to laugh with someone, share emotions and help him succeed financially. She can help him setup business and sell his art. Even though Haji may decide to "hang up his gloves" and stop drawing cartoons with strong sexual overtones, his wife may want him to continue for business. These are some of the things they can decide for themselves. In his case a gold digger may not be a bad thing, or someone who becomes a gold digger. Haji doesn't have money yet so if he becomes rich and gives half of it away, he's half more rich than he is now. About the ad, forgot about the 'while' but that's ok he did talk about his English. Starving artist is not poverty. It's something some women dig. Especially divorced women who can take care of themselves.

Anonymouse

by Yek Nafar (not verified) on

The question is not the size of a house you know. It's so much more. It's family committments. It's feelings for everyone involved. It's parents, in laws, friends and so many human issues. Money is really the last issue in these things. I said before it is lonliness. You have to see that human emotions and behaviour is much more PEECHEEDEH than money. My case is different but I won't give details. My point in the response was that judgement is passed and even though I am a terrible person but the judgement cannot be accurate without details of the situation. So Haji condemns many acts by reducing situations to simple sex without really representing the human aspect behind it.

by Sasha on

 Anonymouse,

Did I not tell you to change the "while male" to "white male"? I saw the personals ad Haji put up there. I guess the both of you have issues with him saying Iranian and proud of it.  I also told you to leave out the poverty remarks. You are going to scare off the women. You can be honest but without scaring them off. :o)
