"In a surprising upset, Ali "Alex" Sabzevari, the current one term governor of California pulled ahead of the other Republican candidates to win most of the electoral delegates for California, New York, Ohio and New Jersey. Yesterday's win all but locks the nomination for Sabzevari at the Republican convention later in September. Polls show Sabzevari ahead of his Democratic challenger by 11 point".
Do you think a scenario like this, 16 years from now is possible? I say why the hell not. Us Iranians living in the U.S. just need to, unlike Iranians at home or other countries abroad, UNITE. Thats right. Enough of this me me me me me thing. First step is to admit we don't know jack shit about most things in the world. Stop the nonsense of strong opinions on everything from economy, politics, history, religion, medicine and law just because we feel a certain way about a certain thing or issue.
Second thing, start having civil, objective dialogue with each other. You can even start here on Iranian.com. God bless JJ, he has given us the right forum. Let use it.
Finally, lets develope a united long term vision for us here in the U.S. Lets face it, we are not going back to Iran and neither are our children. So lets make things here in the U.S. work for us.
Come out of the cocun of Iranian society. Start friendships with Americans and other races. Treat these non Iranian friends like a true Persian should; woo them with hospitality and kindness. This will take a good 10-12 year and perhaps longer.
Once we Iranians unite, our collective brain and economic power can and will go far. I guarantee you, an Iranian-American U.S. president will be the best antidote to the current filth that ruling Iran.
Thats my opinion. Whats yours?

To All those Who Read My Comments
by Kouroush Sassanian (not verified) on Sat Feb 09, 2008 09:32 AM PSTI want to make sure that you fully understand what my background is:
I was devoted to Mammad Reza Shah Pahlavi. Also, I am a Zartoshti, and when I was growing up, I grew up among the Jewish people.
Consequently, I developed strong negative feelings towards Islam.
Please remeber that when you are reading my comments in this blog. Thanks
P.S. I also use multiple names throughout this site. Names such as Ahmad Bahai, Anonymouspb, Anonymous2008, babakoohi, Kos Sher, and most recently, Nader Vanaki, and Kafka.
By the way, there is also no difference between Nader Vanaki, the real Nader Vanaki, or me. We are all the same people.
I'll keep you posted of new ones if I use them.

I'm Republican
by Kaveh Nouraee on Fri Feb 08, 2008 07:32 PM PSTDemocrats care more for society and are less likely to be bigots or racists? No, Democrats have kept minorities from getting ahead with their welfare programs, which have never given any minorities any incentive to create something for themselves. That keeps the minorities dependent on government and that's why Democrats want big government.
Rednecks and racists are Republican? See how many votes Barack Obama will get from white Democrats. Also, Alabama Governor George Wallace and South Carolina Senator Strom Thurmond were avowed racists who were Democrats. Thurmond switched to the GOP after changing his racist views.
Republicans like war more than Democrats? U.S. involvement in World War 2 , Korea and Vietnam were all started during the administrations of Democratic presidents. The Korean and Vietnam Wars ended during Republican administrations.
Businessmen like Republicans? Of course. Because Democrats want higher taxes, with small businesses paying the most. As far as selfish, you need to be clearer. But, you should be able to keep what you earn. After all, this isn't a communist nation.
As far as the rest of your argument, it doesn't make sense.

by Anonymousew (not verified) on Fri Feb 08, 2008 01:43 PM PSTDemocrats care more for society humanity and the world
Democrats are less likely to be bigots and racists
Rednecks are usually republicans
Racists vote republican
Ones who like war more are republican
The ones are are white supemacists vote republican
The south is mostly republican
The less educated are usually republican
The selfish and businessmen usually like republican
The people who hate foreigners more are usually republican
Teachers and educators are usually democrat
The fanatic christians are usually republican
I think that is enough reason to be a Democrat and beleive in democracy with separation of church and state and no racism and bigotry in voting and electing the best for a nation and the world.

Sure Why Not?
by Kaveh Nouraee on Fri Feb 08, 2008 11:47 AM PSTIt's a great idea.
Here are some of the changes you would see with an Iranian-American President:
1) All persons entering the White House will have to remove their shoes. The entire South Portico will be converted for the purpose of storing footwear, with a Marine guard acting as sentry.
2) White House dinners will consist solely of kabab barbecues, to be held in the Rose Garden.
3) The floor covering in the Oval Office will be a rug from Kashan.
4) Also in the Oval Office, between the U.S. and Presidential flags, will be a galyun.
5) The presidential retreat will be re-named Camp Javid. The President will leave the White House on Friday afternoons to board the presidential helicopter, Marine One, wearing pajamas and dampayee.
6) The presidential Cadillac limousine will be replaced with a BMW 7-Series.
7) The president's introduction music, "Hail to the Chief" will be replaced with a remix by Deep Dish.
8) C-Span will be replaced by Jaam-e-Jam
9) International disputes wiill be resolved over games of backgammon (best 3 out of 5).
10) Instead of the presidential veto, we will have the Presidential Taarof.

Joke aside, point well taken, but we don't have to conform

by nagharbeee (not verified) on Fri Feb 08, 2008 11:17 AM PSTYou guys can't even agree on the smallest details in regards to Iran, yet you expect the community to unite and vote for an Iranian-American president? hahhaha
The Iranians themselves will bring him down, by creating so much infighting, accusing him from every direction:
1) He's pro-IRI
2) He's a monarchist
3) He's an IRI agent
4) President of US? He must work for CIA
5) blah blah blah
You guys will accuse him of everything, including contradictory things, and then let the wolves eat the rest of them.
That is why we have the Islamic Republic in Iran today, because you opposition are idiots. Iran threw out you guys for a reason.
