 I agree with you, in fact I think Shirin ebadi, instead of asking for the hunger strikers to abandon their protests should had asked for high profile sympathy hunger strikes outside Islamist rapist's embassies , and othe high profile venues (UN, DC, etc). I am sure many ordinary Iranians and Americans.Europeans would be more than happy to participate.

خوب شد فهمیدیم که زندگی و حیات را خالق هردو به انسان هدیه میکند. اتفاقاَ ظلم و ستم هم دو چیز مختلف هستند.

Our dear Fred is against hunger strike simply because it has the potential for making heroes of people who are not desirable to him and in his opinion don't deserve the public attention and support.

Dear Fred's favourite strike isn't hungry, but stuffed with hatred and destruction.

I think, as mentioned in the blog, as far as utility of hunger strike goes, we are on the same wavelength. However, we differ on its usage in the Islamist Rapist Republic.

As I’ve pointed out, Islamist Rapists do not care about public opinion one bit. Nor do they care about death of Iranians, even those who were their comrades not that long ago, as number of examples cited attest to the phenomena.

I am of the belief that, were the overseas supporters of the captives to hold sustained hunger strikes, it would force policy change by the Islamist Rapist enabling countries, which would help to bring about meaningful changes back in Iran.

As it stands, a whole lot of feel good supportive essays and at most public pronouncements by some sane world officials will be the extent and end result of the hunger strikers' pain and the very real possibility of death back in Iran.

I am totally against it.

زندگی و حیات را خالق هردو به انسان هدیه میکند ای گربه  نفهم. دست و انگشتان را همینطور و حتی به یک دیوانه. ولی دریغ از این هم داده ها که صرف فتنه بازی و خدعه و فریب در روزی ۲ بار و درتمام عمر یک فرد قدر ناشناس میگردد.

Fred: I disagree with you on this.

Hunger strike, is a well tested and effective means of political protest. Gandhi did it, Mandela did it, Bobby sands did it. Of three above, two achieved their complete aims, the third (Bobby Sands), achived his aims partialy after his death, due to huge pressure put upon british government as the direct result of his and his comrades death.

Whilst Iranian political prisoners back home are taking this brave step, we need to be solidly behind them and help their cause by publicizing their plight wherever we are, however we can.

Unlike the blogger's clear as the sun-rise aim of making a 'mockery' of Islam by his/her own invented term of 'Islamist' & adding the term 'Vohoush' in front of that in regard to actions/misactions of the current Iranian regime, which absolutely has nothing to do with Islam, this commentator's objective is to bring up the Bani-Israel's history straight from only & the only Book of Muslims; i.e. Quran, to show that Iranians' backgrounds match those stories with amazing resemblance! It is somehow mind buffling that what has been written in Quran 1500 years ago about them is in exact tune with their today's lives! Hopefully the blogger is an Iranian born entity & understans these notes better than aybody else if he/she carries the Bani Israel's DNA or their DEEN!

زندگی <کردنی> نیست بلکه <دادنی> است. خالقی که به <بشر> مخلوق خود دست و ۵ انگشت هدیه کرده و به او نوشتن آموخته در عین حال عقل هم به او اعطا کرده که او را متمایز از <وحوش> نماید. هیهات از تشکر و قدر شناسی. چقدر زیبا قرآن در مورد قوم بنی اسرايیل بیان می کند (۲:۹۶) وقتی که می گوید افراد این قوم را حریص ترین و وابسته ترین به <زندگی> دراین دنیای (پر از ظلم) میابی که هر یک از آنها دوست دارد هزار سال (عمر شقایق؟؟؟) عمر کند ولی عشق و علاقه به پو چیات این دنیا (خود پرستی و نژاد پرستی و طلا و ثروت دوستی وغیره) که در قلب آنها به سبب گوساله طلا پرستیشان از جانب پروردگار مهر و موم شده هرگز و هرگز با مهرورزی و خیر رسانی به دیگران و شکر و ایمان و ستایش پرودگار جایگزین نخواهد شد. نوشته های ۲ روز <در بار> این نگارشگر هم تحققی است محکم از وعده الهی و  نمایش از سرشت فردی که برای باز گشت دوران <دربار> شاهنشاهی (گوساله پرستی) از توسل به هیچ خدعه و فریبی کوتاهی نمی کند. حیف از انگشتان دست وحیف از عقل.

It was a short visit

I only wonder what would happen to our country and our people and ultimately to us the "eye-ray-nians" scattered in strange packets of soil around the globe, if dear Fred's patriotic wish were granted and the Islamist rulers were just poofed up to the state of nothingness overnight.......I keep wondering if dear Fred has ever elaborated on the subject of the day after, and on the subject of " OK guys, I suggest that we replace the thugs of IRI, by these honourable entities".......I don't remember that dear Fred has ever suggested anything to be built after the destruction....

Please, if you wish, feel free to dive on the "F" buttons to eff me off, to "B" button to accuse me, or the "S" to shut me up....but don't you dare to push the "P" button, to start your idealistic lecture about how "people" will do this and that, and IRAN will become a Heaven the day after Mullahs are gone......I'm no kid.
