Revenge is a powerful motivating factor. When it comes to vengeance, Iranians, like many others, are not only familiar with the concept are old hands at it. Throughout history of Persia it has served as an empowering factor in political maneuverings, it is even enshrined in the Persian epic Shahnameh--and as some say, is reflected in the dominant Islamic creed in Iran.
Although it is not talked about much lately, but there is no escaping the fact that in the back of many minds different scenarios of taking revenge on the Islamist cutthroats are being replayed over and over. And why not, the Islamists have left no atrocity undone and when the time comes, and it will come, it would be hard to expect their multitudes of victims to forget and forgive. But in the name of revenge and retribution itself starts another cycle of destructive violence.
To my mind the best and sweetest revenge that can be exacted on the Islamists, aside those who have actually committed prosecutable crimes, is to work hard and establish a full-fledged democracy in Iran.
Look at it this way, every time Iranian teenagers do what teenagers are meant to do, the Islamists are being punished. Each time Iranian woman go about their life their captivating flowing shimmering hairs will be punishing all who had them bundled up for so long. All the time that followers of any belief publically tend to their sacred rituals, especially when Moslems pray not because of the government, the Islamists are being punished. The sound and sight of people enjoying life without fear, laughing and dancing in public will torment Islamists more than any act of revenge could ever hope to achieve. Poetry loving, wine appreciating, fun and a bit of debauchery craving Persian culture will be enough of revenge on the Islamists on this earth.
And for the afterlife, unless evidence to the contrary is at hand there is no reason not to believe Roman12:19. “Never take your own revenge, beloved, but leave room for the wrath of God, for it is written, vengeance is mine, I will repay, declares the Lord”.

by Fred on Mon Jul 13, 2009 08:38 AM PDTThank you,
My understanding of Luke 6:31 which you’ve cited has been and in the context of this blog it is further reinforced, that is wishing to impose the barbaric Islamist justice on the Islamists would be contrary to the letter and spirit of Luke 6:31.
Persians shall over come and then my hope is the proper Persian etiquette will eventually convert many who have gone Islamists for a while welcoming ‘em back to the fold.
Revenge vs Justice
by Farah Rusta on Mon Jul 13, 2009 05:38 AM PDTDear Fred,
As always, in your consice but insightful style, you have opened a very important debate and as always very few of the iraniandotcomers are interested to discuss anything meaningful. Whe taking about revenge I think one needs to remember that Iranians take revenge only when they are in a position of power and their target in a position of weakness. I can't name any historic event of significance in which Iranians avenged the injustices they suffered while their oppressor was still powerful. Only for a shortwhile the MKO setlled score with the likes of Lajevardi or a few other mullahs and to this day many of the perpetrators of the genocide of the late 1980's ae still at large.
Justice, however, is in my opinion the right way to go about it. And the best justice to be served on the Islamic criminals is the Islamic justice. After all, they (Islamist) do beleive in the muslim version of
"Do to others as you would have them do to you." (Luke 6:31)FR
I agree with you too.
by Maryam Hojjat on Mon Jul 13, 2009 05:17 AM PDTThese islamist are most inhumane characters I have ever seen in my life.
besides, we must have programs on TV & radio in free IRAN to introduce other religions such as bahaie, chirstian & Zorasterian for people to realize what horrible choice was made for them by force by their ansestors to be a moslem.
Down With IRI
You are absolutely right
by Bijan A M on Sun Jul 12, 2009 05:18 PM PDTThe greatest revenge aginst IRI is establishment of a true Democratic Republic where Iranians can experience every right a human being is born with. Those that are tortures to an Islamist. Something like a woman slapping an akhood in the face if he proposes sigheh or an atheist says screw your god.. A lady will have the same right as a human as the man next to him.
Thanks Fred for your post
