Those of you who know Fred Halliday need no introduction to his line of thinking. A life long supporter of the Iranian left, Fedayeen guerillas in particular, Halliday has never lost an opportunity to admire the revolution that his heros claim to have lost to the Islamists. Here he goes as far as describing the revolution as the most modern in history:
